Loud Noise when Disengaging Clutch
2006 350z 6sp 67k miles
Just put a new clutch and flywheel in it, after about 350-400 miles of breaking it in. I raced a g35 last night, and when I hit really high rpms and pushed in the clutch in any gear id say probably 5k+ rpms it made a really loud whiney/grinding noise I dont really know how to describe it... Is this normal? It seems to be any gear in high rpms except maybe 1st...
I have z1 clutch/flywheel combo, full face mild street performance.

If it is the throw out bearing, he should have the noise at low RPM’s. He says the noise happens at high RPM’s; but then again he does not offer any information at low RPM’s.
So… OP… Does the same noise happen at low RPM’s?

I replaced the throwout bearing
low rpms like under 2k all i hear is is flywheel chatter kinda sounds like a diesel, i assumed that was normal
so tell me this, could a throw out bearing cause pedal play? Like i have to pull the pedal up about 1 inch before its all the way up, I replaced master cyl, slave cyl, and most of the hardline with a ss clutch line. and bled the fluck out of it and it still has play...
the only thing i couldnt replace was the pilot bushing... I couldnt get it out.

So i took it to the transmission shop and just talked to the guy about it. He said odds are the slave cylinder i bought from rock auto is junk (13$ lol) so I ordered one from oreillys for 43$ hopefully it will take away from the noise.
Also I realized that if i continue pushing the pedal all the way to the floor that noise goes away it only does it when its partially disengaged, fully disengaged it doesn't do it, I just never noticed it cause i shift too fast haha!
Hopefully the new slave cylinder will be stronger and can handle the harder pushing and fix my pedal, and fix the damn burning clutch smell i get when shifting harder I'm sick of smelling it lol.
I'm praying to the car gods!

Same issues.
This is what I have gone through. So I had really bad grinding in every gear I went to the see what it was. First throw out bearing was messed up and I also replace the flywheel since i had warranty i said mine as well.
Got it back a week passed by and only 5th gear was grinding im talking about loud grinding so I went back to check it out the syncro was supposdely worn out. I replaced it but I also had to replace a shaft because stupid Nissan updated the parts. I drove it for a week no noise.
Now just today I started getting grinds on 2nd gear 3rd gear and 4th gear.
Yes im upset and I dont know if its the syncros or what but I dont know what to do.

Its a 2005 Nissan 350z (enthusiast) Im assuming the transmssion is the original version because I had to update the shaft even though my shaft was fine just so the new syncros would fit I had to update.
Transmission fluid maybe?
Transmission fluid maybe?
Your transmission will have a version number. You need this to determine if replacement is a solution, but you are now past replacement under the drivetrain warranty.
The early versions (installed 2003-2005) had problems including synchromesh issues and "notchy"/difficult shifting.
Nissan replaced many 350z transmissions under the 60K drivetrain warranty. Nissan did not have to do this. They did it because they are a very good company.

Mine doesn't grind any gears.... but if I sit at a stop and pump it a few times it will come all the way up for a few shifts, then get stuck... and when it comes back up it isnt smooth it like jumps up the last inch and makes a clunking noise. I ordered a better slave cylinder. I'm gonna try to manually bleed it again tonight and see what happens... When I race now its not smelling as much or as bad, raced a gto 3 times last night and didnt smell it but 1 time, so I'm thinking maybe just maybe I didn't get all the air out :/
