This may sound ridiculous but...... I bought my car in April and mid-April the license plate off it was stolen, the same night the license plate off my other car was stolen...... but then mid May I noticed the front bumper molding was missing lol.

So I thought to myself, "maybe I bought the car without the molding". Nope, looked at photos of my car and the molding was there........ Do you guys think it fell off? or do you think someone is f-ing with me just like they stole my plates?

I ask this for 3 reasons:

1. I hear this molding has a habit of coming off over time (8 year old car)
2. I'm concerned for safety...

But also,
3. I need to buy new molding and need a cheap source. So far the cheapest I could find is $65. Any cheaper out there?

 

What molding are you referring to? Like the bottom of the bumper the rubber molding?

 

The fascia that looks like it would be the cars mouth. It's like a rubber compound.

 

Yea idk anything about any molding on our bumpers...did you have an aftermarket front lip on there? Did you think that was molding?

I hope you filed a police report for both stolen plates. They can use them for committing crimes and your plate would trace back to you.

 

Yup, have done. Thought about filing a report for the grille too, but thought that might be a bit ridiculous...... but seeing as how the grille is really hard to pull off, it probably didn't fall off. So stolen makes sense....

 

But why steal it? It's basically worthless? I could see wheels or a full bumper, but a piece of fascia? Someone is f*cking with you.

 

yeah.. that's all it is. Someone is just screwing with me. only my front plates were stolen, from both cars. So I don't think they'll use them for gas theft or anything. Especially considering one of the plates was bent to only show the number and they would mess it up bending it out.

Also, when I actually noticed the bumper trim was gone there was just one piece left lol. Maybe I didn't notice before, but I think they kept coming back and taking trim piece by piece. lol.
