Default Fobs got the funk

I recently picked up an 05 roadster. With it came all 3 key fobs. I have been having inconsistent trouble (with all 3) locking and unlocking my doors (especially locking) using the fobs. I changed the batteries in all 3, and it made no difference. I have to move around the car and try the fob a few times before the car will lock or unlock. Checked the manual and searched here to see if I was missing something.

It seems like it works the best when I don't stand too close to the car, and sort of come at it an an angle. Different methods of pushing/holding the buttons don't seem to matter.

Anyone here experienced this? Is there a better place than most to aim at with the fob?

Some of them are probably more worn from years of use, internal connectivity issue within the fob.

This is a very misleading title.

I was imaging this:

With Asians.

I sometimes experience diffulculty as well, I chalk it up to my key fobs being 10+ years old.
Congrats on picking up a z!

Maybe your antenna is bad or something, I have about a 50 yard range.

do you know where the antenna is located in the car?

I wouldn't think it to be internal issues in the fob... even the one with the valet key acts the same. And, they all light up when I push the buttons.

and, Pyshin, that's what I thinking about when I wrote the title!

btw, it's a red roadster with 38,000 miles. Dead stock. Paid 14k even to a private party. Smelled like cigarettes but cleaning and ozium fixed that up well enough for my 56-year old nose.
