Default 350z hatch struts

So I have had my z for a few months now and the first thing I did when I bought the car was put new hatch struts in it. Guess what? a month later they don't work anymore. I was just wondering if any of the other 350z owners have this issue?

yes the hatch struts have a history of problems, however I don't know what this matters. either way you have to replace them.

Did you replace with OEM struts?

Mine were dead when I got the car but I ordered aftermarket ones off kf z1motorsports.

That was around march (got the car Jan) they've been doing good since.

I am not sure, I just went to autozone and asked the guy if they sold hatch struts for an 03 350z, he put the information into the computer and the next day the were here. I went to a tire place today to get my tire repaired, I had it in the spare spot and when I hit the hatch button it only went up a little bit.

Thats probably the little spring that it has on each side. It makes the trunk pop when you click the button.

My Z also came with blown shocks but the dealer mailed out some generics to me. A year and a half later theyre still good.

Actually I had mine for almost 8 years, got some heavy duty after market to support the NISMO Spoiler, and they work like a champ, even better then the oem ever did....

same problem. Go to z1 motorsports and pick up some heavy duty ones. about $70 and will not have a problem supporting it

I very rarely open my hatch so even with the Z1 struts the weatherstrip sticks and I have to double clutch the switch to pull it open.

The struts and the small springs both help “pop” the hatch.

I replaced the springs after I had the car about 6 years. 4 years later, the replacements are still working.

I replaced the OEM struts after owning the car for 3 years. My replacement was a heavy duty aftermarket strut designed to support a heavy spoiler. The aftermarket strut has been in place for 7 years and now needs replacement.
