Whining noise in high gears when accelerating on highway
Hello all.
I have a 2005 coupe MT (Anniversary) and lately I noticed that when I get on the highway in higher gears I hear a very strange whining noise. I've googled all over the place, searched through these forums and others but nothing seems to really match (it's not helped by lack of audio anywhere). Asked a Nissan specialist I know and it did not sound familiar at all.
Only seems to happen when the car is cold (I live right next to the highway), usually goes away after a minute or so, only happens in higher gears and at highway speeds. Kind of at my wits end here, managed to make an audio recording today 9seconds+ really audible. https://prizrak.kicks-***.org:8443/o...ff3d3e603877dd this is hosted on my own server can't figure out any other way to share an audio file.
Thank you all in advance

I notice you are in NY so it's probably cold. Someone knowledgeable told me it's because the fluids are cold and is partially frozen. Like you said it goes away after a minute. We've been getting single digit temps in Denver, CO.

Yes it's getting cooler and I do think it's related but can't figure out what specifically is making the noise which makes me uneasy as you can imagine.

I'm currently in class and can't listen to the audio you've posted, but it sounds like the whining sound is one that can be described as the wind blowing real fast that creates that train whistle sound. Best way I could describe it. If so..this happens to me. I'm located in Northern New Jersey where it hit 20 degrees today. This sound is perfectly normal from what I know. It goes away after the tranny fluid warms up and everything else warms up. I just had a tranny and LSD fluid change and the sound is still made. Don't worry, nothing is wrong. It's just that your car is cold. My best advice is to not shift past 3K rpms for the first 5 minutes when the car is in motion.

It's completely normal. My car does it every winter. Like you, I now live right off the highway so I do notice it more, but as others have said, it is completely normal.
