Car wont start
hello
Does anyone know if the ECU from another 350z will maintain all functions if i change it? mine seem to have died. For example will a Base model 2004 350z ECU work on my 2004 track edition(will it retain VDC and such)?... I know ill probably have to re-program the key with a locksmith.

The ECMs need to be from similar cars, for example VQ35DE, manual tranny and similar options (nav) for everything to work. The bigger issue might be why did your original ECM die? If the cause isn't fixed, the next one may have a similar fate. It's also possible to reprogram your original ECM (at the dealer) to function again- have you checked this?
well i bought a 2005 350z base model ECM, my car is a 2004 350z track edition. While I found a loose ground which might have caused this issue i have not found anything else. The interesting part is that when I took my ECM out, it was written on it with magic marker(like salvage yards do on items): it said it was from a G35 Black Coupe, this might indicate there where problems with this car related to ECM before, and it did not had its factory ECM. I have not checked the dealer reprogram service, but a snap on computer was connected to the car and it did not connect to my ECM suggesting mine was fried.
