Oil Dip Stick Popped out at WOT
Like the title says...
I ran into a rather strange problem...
2004 Nissan 350Z 130 on the dash about 50K on bottom end.
I normally need a quart of oil in between oil changes. It's been like that since I bought the car. I noticed I was low on oil because of the oil light coming on when hitting brakes. (Think everyone knows the dip stick is completely useless for checking oil level on the DE).
I put a quart of oil Mobile 1 5W30, stopped at a light and the engine was shaking like a over weight stripper.
Shut the car off turned it back on after a few minutes and it started fine ran fine. I did get a check engine light P0011, but quickly cleared itself. I'm guessing the low level of oil caused this and once oil reached its destination everything worked itself out.
Anyhow I drove the car to airport the next day and upon flooring it in 1st, my car started smoking. Opened the hood and saw my dip stick was pushed out by pressure causing oil to go on headers etc....
It has not happened since, I'm wondering if I added to much oil or what your thoughts are on this matter. I have searched but no real details for my car. All forums I found were about how horrible the dip stick was.
Your thoughts are very much appreciated, thanks.

You need to learn to use the dip stick to check your oil. It really isn't that difficult. I suspect your dip stick was thrown out because it wasn't put back in correctly. Using the oil light to indicate low oil levels is kind of like playing Russian roulette. Usually damage has already occurred if the light illuminates.

Just an FYI as the engine wears, you get more blow by the rings... that builds pressure in the block Which the PCV valve should take care of and release BUT if the valve is full O goo and cannot vent... yep that dip stick CAN pop out....
Most helpful info here, thank you.
