Maybe that's already the negotiated settlement. Hence him saying he was screwed.

Sorry OP, don't mean to make light of your sitch, but lemons, lemonade....

But seriously, time for your insurance company to get involved. Do you have witnesses to the accident? Cuz its been days now and the longer you wait, the more the insurance company gets suspicious.

I've used one of these with decent results on a RAV4. https://www.dingking.tv/

$20 and it won't make it worse.

Find a PDR shop- Paintless dent repair, I prefer oem original paint on my cars. If you don't care, or its already been previously refinished, go to a bodyshop.

Well I understand being a nice guy if you have a **** box that you don't really care about but you really kinda screwed the pooch on this one. You pay for insurance for a reason.

As for the elephant in the post I think mic has some leftovers for everyone.

She said she's going to put it on her credit card and wants me to sign a letter saying after she pays for damages she's no longer responsible blah blah. How the fu.. Can she afford to put it on her cc and not afford insurance is what I don't understand.

dude, in all honesty... claim it on yours and let your insurance deal with her.

quit talking to her. if she can't afford insurance do you really think her CC will cover things

The point is, insurance may not help the OP. No telling how long ago the accident occurred, there's no police report and probably no other witnesses documented, so what's the OP going to do? Most likely the claim will end up as his responsibility alone.

I give the OP credit for coming back and telling us what we already knew: this repair was way more expensive than he ever guesstimated. Not understanding how insurance and liability works will really cost him in this case. It's a high price for education.

California might be different in Massachusetts we are required to carry insurance. But I think you have 5 days to fill out an accident report and give it to the police, and your insurance company. Your insurance company should pay to fix and get the money from the girl that hit you...

Because you took $ from the girl already their is a small chance your insurance will tell you that your contract with them is void because you made an agreement without them. Its a Gray area but because it wasn't your fault they shouldn't give you a big hassle. Unless your insurance company sucks.

But yeah if she is going to pay with her credit card just let her pay your insurance company with a credit card.. Its what you pay them for.

Nah they will still pay and tell you to refund the money back to the other party. (I've been an agent in Mass for 14 Years...need a quote ? )

Haha my wifey is an insurance agent, I dont even get my insurance from her. I use USAA they are hard to beat. She could get me a little cheaper rate but im pretty sure that rate would skyrocket the following year. Ive been with USAA for like 13 years and so far so good.
