Help diagnosing throwout or pilot bearing noise (video link)
Hi all, I've searched the forum for this but I can't seem to find a scenario that is the same as mine. My car is making a squealing noise which almost sounds like a squeaky belt pulley but it is not.
This noise seems to come start and stop at completely random times.
In the video you see it go away when the clutch is disengaged (press pedal) but if you wait until the end of the video the noise remains with and without the clutch pedal pressed. Normally pressing the clutch pedal will do nothing to remove the noise but in this particular video it did at some point. I know this would indicate the throwout bearing or in my case the CSC (I have an HR) but the noise happens many many times with the clutch disengaged. I am leaning towards pilot bearing but has anyone had this noise before? Maybe it isn't even a bearing at all?
All help is greatly appreciated!! Below is a link to the video.

I had a very similar sound from my 350z. Initially I also thought it was a TOB. It wasn't a TOB; it was a belt.
Disclaimer: My sound only happened in very cold weather (which you do not experience in SoCal) so my advice might not be helpful.

Get someone to start it for you and try and isolate the location of the sound.
Pretty easy to find out if it is coming from the front of the engine or under the car from the trans.
