Default Driving along then oil pressure drops to 0

Wow. What a first week of owning a Z. First the CEL, then I cracked my bumper from hittig a cat, now I have zero oil pressure. Im not sure how long it had been on but certainly not that long, maybe 10 minutes most before I noticed it. Temp is fine. There is oil in it. What the heck happened? Could it be my sensor? I would search more, but Im stranded with my phone.

Is there pressure while driving or is it even 0 while moving. I know people have had issues where the oil pressure will read 0 while at hot idle. I believe the issue that was causing that was a bad gasket, I'll see if I can find the original thread.

Anyways there's a few things you can try based off my limited knowledge and a few searches.
  • Check Oil Level
  • Replace Sending Unit
  • Replace Oil Pump
  • Replace Gaskets

Yup, just happened to me on my 07 Nismo. I included what happened here:

Fixed it. Some sort of valve was clogged not letting oil through properly. Sorry I freaked out on you guys!

It wasn't a valve exactly. It was some sort of sensor. I got it towed to a shop and got the part replaced. All is well.

In any case, you did the right thing in immediately stopping the car and not cooking the engine. But you'd be wise to figure out just what part (sensor or otherwise) was replaced in your Z. these VQ engines are brilliantly engineered and precision built powerplants, but they will not last long without an ample supply of clean oil.
