Default O2 Sensor Wiring Help

Hey guys!

I crept out of hiding to ask a question that a simple forum search and factory wiring diagram have yet to answer:

How does an electronically challenged Z owner re-wire his o2 sensor?

Long story short, previous owner lowered my 2008 Nismo and the original connectors paid the price.

I now have two shoddy splice jobs and code p0057 HO2S heater circuit.

The passenger side is ok for now (could probably use some actual solder and shrink wrap) but the driver side is my issue, especially because I don't know which colored wire from the main harness corresponds to the 4 o2 sensor wires.

I have scavenged a connector to splice into the harness, and I purchased a new o2 sensor that comes with the factory connector attached.

Can someone do me a favor and peek under their HR z and jot down which color (purple/white, red/black, red/yellow, green/red) wire connects to it's respective o2 sensor wire (black, gray, and 2 whites) on the harness?

I was hoping to help out with this, but my car is 06 so the wire colors are different. You don't have a copy of the service manual for your Z? It contains the wiring colors you need to repair your sensor connection.

EDIT: I did a quick search for the FSM for your car, according to the manual, the wires should be connected as:
(Harness connector to oxygen sensor)
Red/Black === Black
Purple/White === White
Red/Yellow === White
Green/Red === Gray

Make sure you strip at least an inch of the wire insulation, wrap them around each other, and solder it real well, wrap in electrical tape, and cover with a proper electrical wire wrap. If you decide not to solder, butt connectors should suffice, so long as you crimp them well at the ends to secure the wire. Wrap in electrical tape and wire wrap as well. Let me know if this fixes your DTC issue.

You're the man!

I'll hook it all up per your instructions and follow up with the code cleared. There's quite a few threads that have this question unanswered.

I was in the FSM,
http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/350Z/cou...oupe+Roadster/
and the only info I found in the PG was what fuse the sensors run on. Where'd you find the detailed schematic?

By PG do you mean the Power and Ground chapter of the manual? You won't find it there I think. I found the wiring diagram in Engine Control System chapter. IIRC it was page 163, but you'll definitely find it if you look up the DTC p0057.

Yeah, I was in the wrong chapter.

Thanks!

These should be the relevant portions from the '03 FSM. Hopefully, it helps.

R/B = red/black
P/B = pink/black
B = black
W = white
P/L = pink/blue
B/OR = black/orange

Hijacking. Does anyone know if the female end of the O2 sensors are readily available from online parts store? mine got too close to the cats and started melting and now they won't plug in correctly.
Cheers!
