Default Intake question

Well the little nipple that is on the stock intake sorta snapped off on mine. The one from bottom of intake to behind driver side engine. What exactly does this even do? I searched the best I could.

Any info would be great. Thank you!

It's for the pcv system.

Those two nipples you are describing are suppose to be connected with a hose, it is part of the PVC system mentioned above.

My suggestion is to replace the hose and connect both ends together, or plug them up with rubber caps that you can get at Autozone. If you don't your MAF is going to run stupid with the air escaping and coming into your intake pipe. It's not gonna do its job well to know how much air is actually coming in the motor.

well, since the nipple on the intake tube is damaged it’s sorta hard to connect a hose to it, I tried but it wiggles off after driving. So it’d be fine to plug this hole and the nipple on back of engine for a little while until I can get my hands on a new intake tube?

Can you post a picture of the broken piece on your intake tube? It will better help us determine a way to seal it.

its not really fixable tbh, not unless I somehow install a new nipple. Although I can find a way to seal it, as you suggest. I have a better idea though, could I just plug the intake hole and then have a catch can coming from the nipple on back of engine and just leave it at that or do I need to have it running driver back of engine - catch can - intake ?

Cut the nipple completely off. Wrap pipe in a piece of duct/aluminum tape to cover the hole

Or do I not know what we are talking about here?

I was thinking of something similar. I appreciate the response. I’ll post what I do in case this happens to anyone else for some crazy reason.

Yeah.. I just wanted to see if it could be repaired. But sure you can just cut it off. Now you have to get a 3/8in. I.D. crankcase breather filter to put on the valve cover. - https://www.google.com/search?q=cran...=1521560429880

Wait wait wait wait wait.

I can delete the hose going from the intake to the back of the valve cover? I just have to plug the intake and put a filter on the valve cover?

I hate that hose with a passion.

YYYup. You can get away with just a breather filter on the drivers side, but the passenger side(PCV side) should get a catch can because that side emits more oil vapor. Otherwise your engine bay will be covered in a light film of oil.
