Default 2003 350z stalls randomly then runs perfect

I have a 2003 350z touring coupe with auto transmission. The car will just stall. It will stall on the expressways at speed, at a stoplight, under acceleration or idling. It idles smoothly at 650rpm. When it stalls the service engine soon, TCS OFF and SLIP lights comes on. I put car in neutral and start the car all the lights stay on. It starts very hard but starts. When I park the car it will start (easily) only the check engine soon light will be on. I check the codes and they are bank 2 cam position sensor. I have changed both cam position sensors multiple times. The car runs perfect it will cut out for a second then everything works perfect again. I am leaning towards the ECU as I have checked all the outboard sensors

The problem you describe really sounds like a camshaft sensor failure. I had failure after replacing a camshaft sensor with a non-OEM one. I then installed an OEM sensor I bought at a Nissan dealership, and that worked.

Some owners also report they had to replace the crankshaft sensor after replacing a camshaft sensor. I'm not sure why this might be required.

Save yourself the headaches now, replace both cams and the crank with the OEM parts.

That is exactly what I did after attempting a non-OEM camshaft sensor replacement. When this failed, I replaced both camshaft sensors and the crankshaft sensor with new OEM sensors. That fixed it.

Has anyone suggested the fuel pump? I know non-OEM sensors are no-no but sounds like a fuel pump going out?

since he is getting camshaft sensor codes. it would be more beneficial to look at those as the failure before going to the fuel pump.

Changed out cam shaft sensors with OEM and issue solved. I have gotten so good at replacing these non OEM sensors I can replace bank 1&2 sensors in less tha 10 minutes each. No need to remove air intake or plenham. Stay away from aftermarket sensors for this motor. It will give you allot of trouble. Thanks for all of your help

Thanks for the post! (And all the advice shared by others) Having same exact symptoms as you’d describe. Mine has died about half-dozen times in the past few months...and now 3 times in 4 days.
Will follow the wisdom here and do OEM sensors only!
