Default Help with clutch that won’t disengage!

Hey there!
I just bought my first car, 06 350z a month ago and I realized that clutch was very stiff. So, after taking it to the mechanic who had a hard time bleeding the air out, he sent me to buy a new master cylinder. After installing that, the mechanic realized he made a mistake I suppose) and instead it was the slave cylinder that had to be replaced/ installed. We did that today but after putting in the new slave cylinder the clutch won’t go into gear, it won’t disengage and the only way to drive it is by forcing it into synchros and naturally shifting gears without the clutch.
I’m putting this on here because frankly I’m not sure the mechanic I’ve been going to is reliable as he usually does germans and knows nothing about Z’s. He thinks that the car may need a whole new clutch and I’m hoping someone out there could give me some insight or advice!
sorry if this isn’t as detailed, I’m pretty new to the car world and am not too sure about the details!
thank you so much, anything helps!

victoria

thanks for your reply! The mechanic tried bleeding it a lot though, even after installing the new part so I’m not sure

With 2 people it can be done in about 15 minutes. I re-read the original post, you said it was stiff....assuming you meant the pedal or the shifter?

Is this mechanic at a reputable shop? Might want to just bite the bullet and take it to a Nissan dealership

Welcome Victoria and if you've replaced the clutch master and the slave cylinder, I agree with Trav that the problem is most likely your mechanic has not bled all the air out of the system. It's a pretty simple hydraulic system, and if your tech is not up to it, maybe it's time to find a new mechanic.

do you mean it’s getting stuck in the middle? like you have to pop it up with your foot at the halfway point?

I had the same issue on mine, just adjust the clutch linkage on the under side of where the pedal hinges. It’s a little fork that goes on both sides of the clutch lever, break loose the nut that locks the fork, and loosen the bolt by the splines, just loosen it about two turns, and your clutch should come all the way back up. Tighten the bolt back down.

good luck, there’s not a lot of room in there lol
