Default Possible Throwout Bearing Issue

Hey All,

Noticed some noise coming from my Z after i drove it this morning (03 350z enthusiast 140K). I believe it might be my throwout bearing. When stopped and in neutral i hear a noise that sounds almost like knock except not as loud and doesnt continue through the rev range. Clutch in, noise goes away. Clutch out, noise comes back. My throwout bearing was already making some noise so i believe this might be the culprit.

Any thoughts? If i am correct, am i running on borrowed time, can i just live with it, or should i get a new bearing here in a little while (if that is the issue).

Hard to say how much time you have left. It would help to know how many miles on your Z? Also how long has it been since you had a new clutch and throwout bearing installed?

Also, don't post the same question in two different areas.

Z has 140K miles sorry i didnt make that clearer above. I am not the original owner. I would assume that neither have ever been replaced

Sorry about double posts. I am pretty new here. Is there a way to delete posts or does that have to be done by a moderator

Regards.
Noise when in neutral and foot off the clutch pedal is likely the bearings in the transmission input shaft.
If when pedal is to the floor, probably the T.O. bearing.
Noise from the input shaft bearings is common to the 350Z. Often described as sounding "like a cement mixer" or "can with gravel in it", it has been frequently commented on. There are at least five pages of past threads about this condition, do a little research on the forum.

Here's one:

Peace
(edit) not a huge concern if it's the input shaft bearings but be considerate of transmission wear in your previously loved Z.

No worries- I've already deleted the other post. But with 140K miles, the clutch has probably been changed at some point= did you get any service records with the car when you purchased it?
