I have a 04 Enthusiast and the gas cap is not releasing. I have no reason to believe it is the wiring to the button under the steering wheel. I do not, however, hear a clicking noise when I press the button. This leads me to think it is the actuator. Are these very common to go out? When I press the release button under the steering wheel nothing happens. I have made sure the pin is not sticking or keeping the door from releasing. Just wondering if anyone has some ideas for my next course of action before I rip the whole system apart.

 

these are very old cars,, it is almost 100% a bad actuator, plenty of threads showing how to replace from the hatch area here also, w pics.
