EVENT #1 VQ AutoCross Championship @ Pennington Field 2/27/11
This is the official start of the Championship!
Event #1 at Pennington Field (see map) February 27, 2011.
$35 Pre-Registration Here! Don't forget to sign up for PAX runs which will net you 6 runs.
Equipe Rapide follows SCCA car class rules for Stock Class and simplified rules for non-stock classes.
Tis no limit to number of participants and you do not have to pre-register (i.e. walk-ins welcome).
Event #1 at Pennington Field (see map) February 27, 2011.
Registration 8:00-9:00
Entry fee is $20 for members and $25 for non-members. Most events you will get 4 timed runs with the option to enter in the Rapide PAX event for $10 which gives you two more runs.
If you have done the Pre-pay option go to the right side of the trailer to get your card pulled and then go to the worker chief to get checked in and sign the waiver. The worker chief will be at the trailer.
Technical Inspection
Technical Inspection 8:15-9:15. Each car that competes must pass a safety inspection. The inspection includes wheel bearing tightness, tire tread (no cord showing), secure battery placement, removal of loose items inside the car, and proper brake/fluid operation. Other items my be checked by the inspection team. The number one item for not passing is a loose battery.
Novice Walk Through 9:00. At each event there will be an experienced driver to suggest the best way to negotiate the course. They will offer tips on how to complete the course and suggest paths that might provide quicker times. The walk through instructors are there to help the new drivers to the sport and they will gladly answer questions you may have. For 2005 drivers are allowed as passengers in other peoples cars. This is an opportunity for you to see the course before you drive it. It is a good idea to get a ride from someone that has experience. Most of the time people will take passengers. Just ask.
Mandatory Drivers Meeting.
Drivers meeting at 9:30. All drivers are required to attend as event specific instructions and details are discussed. This meeting includes safety concerns, working procedures, run order and rules.
10:00 First car on course.
Trophies
We have trophies and they are even usable. ER trophies are nice to have. Rapide Pax winners receive their awards after the final results are calculated. We finish up the event most of the time between 4:00 and 5:00.

Note on registration with the pre-registration site. You need to either create 2 cars and register them both OR register one car twice. The total amout will be 35$. You can still pay when you get there if you made an error. This is their first year with this online system. There's bound to be a few bugs.
Note: If you want to leave early register once and you don't have to work for the extra 2 runs but then you lose the chance to make 2 extra runs. At least that has been how they did it in the past.

it is really a good test of your cars ability & your driving skills. Your only competition is yourself...just being able to improve on times and driving skills.
Come on out and join us...we have a great bunch of guys here in the DFW area. We usually have a great lunch and plenty of refreshments, so come on out and be our guest....just bring a fold out chair.

I read the rules, and I am curious how thorough they are. I have long tube headers, which are obviously not emissions legal. I was curious if I would sneak into a lower class, or if I would get stuck into SP class. I always hate seeing rules like these, I couldn't imagine pushing my car through some twisties with 245's in the rear!
