Default tranny? what to do?

ok guys what should I do?

let the dealer install a new tranny covered or not under my warranty? we are looking at over 4k for a tranny from the dealer

let the dealer install the tranny and see if they will do my valve body and torque converter upgrade at the same time?

get a used tranny from turbo toys and order my upgrades myself? have somebody install them ? I could get this tranny for $900 plus shipping

5 letters - DOUBLE A (honk honk) M C O - AAMCO! jk

I personally havent had good experiences w/ used/reconditioned parts, I cant imagine how paranoid Id be with a used tranny!!!

one of my friends put a rebuilt/overhauled tranny into his truck and after 2k miles the thing wouldnt get out of 1st, he'd accelerate and the RPMS would shoot up but the car wouldnt move any faster. But what do i know!!

yesterday it was slipping real bad . so bad it wouldnt shift or anything. in 1st I couldnt get the rpm's over 2k or it would just slip and rev the rpms high. I got it home doing 5mph and called the dealer so get the car over there. Its a 5At by the way. today I started the car and it shifted fine and didnt slip at all. so its like cold its fine but soon as the tranny get hot it starts to slip.

That was happening to me, but never to the point I couldn't drive it. It was only after 1/4 mi runs back to back. After a valve body upgrade it went away. You might have just blew your torque converter. Can you hear the transmission engage R and D? Hope it's your torque converter! If you don't hear any clunking and it's heat related you chances are it's just the TC.

Good luck Pumped.... Just know that the company who does your VB needs to know that someone else is doing your TC. I checked into this and I know Stillen did VB's one way for cars with TC upgrades and another way for stock TC's. I guess both work form increased line pressure and they can fight each other.

Depends on the condition of the tranny! Was it from a wreck? Was the wreck a front or rear collision? Is it off the motor/out of the car yet?

sorry to hear about ur tranny man after just seeing ur car at aam. but ur the first i've heard of the a/t going out, right now i'm leaning more toward what gspot is saying w/the valve body. nissan transmissions have proven to be extremely reliable especially the computer controlled versions. hopefully it is just the valve body, good luck.

I know it's hind sight, but for the rest who are concerned. You can get an auto tranny cooler installed from Uhaul's for aroud $150. Pretty good piece of mind if you ask me. I wanted to do this, but was waiting until I have a gauge to check the difference.
