Default 350Evo 3.9 Final Drive

Just wanted to let you all know that I just dropped the car off to get the final drive installed. Hopefully all goes well. I should get the car back by Wed. or Thurs. I am sure going to miss it. I will let you know where I went after I pick the car up and let you all know my recommendation on this place if all goes well. Its going to cost me only about $400 which is a good deal for the install of the final drive, pinion seals, nuts, and the F & R bearings. Pretty much a full rebuild. I was going to get a nismo lsd, but I decided since I am not going to track the car that much, I will be fine with the OEM Viscious LSD.

ok. So I got my car back today. It deffinetly feels faster. They seemed to do a good job and it cost me just over $400. The only negative thing I did not like is I got my car back with Curb Rash on my Brand new NISMO Bronze wheels. Does not look like they are going to do anything about it. Anyone have any suggestions on how to get the curb rash look like nothing or painting it? Any ideas would be appreciated.

Lesson #1.....NEVER leave your car at a shop without a signed-off walk-around to protect your ***. That will probably cost you more than your final drive install did to fix. I'd beat on those a-holes until they coughed up some dough.

Actually I did do a walk around but did not notice the curb rash on the car. I am going to go there tommorow and talk to them again. When I dropped the car off I told them to make sure they take care of the car and rims because they were brand new. They said they would. So I am going to try and get them to do something about it. Unfortunatly I called them today after I drove away and they said there is not much they can do. What do you all think I should do now?

Get a lawyer.

Actually, my thought was, when you drop your car off, politely insist that they come out and walk around the car with you and note any defects existing, and SPECIFICALLY note that there is NO damage to wheels, body panels, etc. Then use that as a checklist before you leave their establishment. That way, they agree on the arrival condition and can't play the "we didn't do that" game.

Seriously, if they really damaged your rims, get a lawyer. Don't take that crap from them.

Yeah, I agree, but is it really worth spending the money on a lawyer then going to court, then who knows how long its going to take to finally get everything over with. I will spend much less money myself gettint the rims fixed then getting a lawyer and everything. The cost for that would overexceed a new rim or fixing.

Try "small claim" then you don't have to hire a lawyer.

dont let them get away with this. if you are certain your rims were perfect before you left it there, get in there face. go down in person and raise hell. trust me, i deal with this kinda crap. no one wants a crazy person coming in their shop everyday bugging them. keep on bugging them and write a letter including an estimate of repair and give them a deadline to pay you and say when payment is recieved this will be settled. otherwise, yes, take them to court. they will not want the hassle. they will pay for your repair. then spread the word of their crappiness to everyone you know and never go back there.

Call the GM, if he doesn't respond tell him you'll get the BBB involved, that you'll go to small claims court, and you'll write to the Washington Post. Tell them you want a new rim.

Update: So I went there and talked to them today. They said for me to go get an estimate to get it fixed and then to go talk to them. The manager said he is most likley to fix it. Does anyone know if there are places that can fix anodized Bronze Nismo Wheels? or what type of shop I would go to?

Check with Ye ole' wheel shop up in MD. They're supposed to be one of the best wheel repair shops in the area.

A short 350Z final drive ring and pinion drastically improves acceleration out of corners and down the strip. A short final drive ring and pinion thus is a great addition to any 350Z that needs an edge in acceleration. This 350Z short final drive ring and pinion is about a 10% reduction over the 350Z OEM final drive (the OEM 350Z ratio is 3.538). Without costly engine modifications, you can get the acceleration that equals much more powerfull cars. Best of all, you don't put any additional stress on your 350Z engine or drive train.
