Default Got a speeding ticket - sad times

On 70 west bound, between Mt. Airy and New Market. Just got a little careless and got pulled over for 80 in a 65. The biggest dagger is that I had 2 (in a Taurus and a Minivan) in March and May of 2005 which are about to drop off. So I don't know if insurance is going to pummel me for that or not?

I've read in other forums about getting a lawyer? It's probably overkill for a 15mph over ticket, but I really don't want the points. Is it worth it at all?

I am also not trying to make excuses, but I have never gotten a warning. I've asked all my friends, and they said about 75% of the time they just get warnings. I can't catch a break!!

If there is any silver lining, it's that he didn't make me take off my 20% tint. In fact, he didn't even ask about it. He DID give me a warning for not having a front license plate though. It's not an ERO, so I'm just "supposed" to get it fixed.

So...Valentine V1 is what I should get????

EDIT: Should I take a traffic course for $30? Would that help soften up the judge?

my best friend's step dad is a state trooper and he said not having a front license plate is just an open invitation for them to pull you over.

VA drivers = BEL STI (totally invisable to radar detector detectors)
Everyone Else = Valentine 1

Bell STI drivers are great, but technically you don't need one if you simply *unplug* when it goes off =P

I got 15 over and it was a reckless charge. I got a lawyer and dropped to a speeding tix, so my insurance did not go up. =)

I am sure that the judge will remember when he was young and adventurous, and cut you a break.

If you got the stock bumper, a Zee Bracket is a way to mount your plates without having to drill holes.

At least you got a ticket and you knew you were speeding! Last year, my brother and I were driving down the road, he in his mustang and I in my Z. The next thing I knew my brother was pulled over by Charles Counties finest. I stopped to wait for him, when the next thing I knew another cop turned his lights on me in the parking lot I stopped in. The officer approached me and asked me “why I was street racing?”. I was shocked! I told him that was my brother I was supposedly street racing and I wouldn’t do that. Plus I work for a police department so that would be kind of stupid on my part. Anyways, the officer that pulled me over had no choice but to give me a ticket. He pulled me over after being radioed to stop me. Both officers changed their story and didn’t give my brother and I tickets for street racing, but driving at speeds greater than reason. I asked how fast that was and he told me he didn’t know and that he only heard a loud car and didn’t have us on radar. That loud car would have been my brothers! So I signed the ticket and told them good night. We called our friend who was a cop in the county and he told me that the one officer was a jerk. A few weeks later he told us not to worry about the ticket and just go to court and fight it. So a year later I went to court. The one officer who wrote me a ticket was there, however the officer who supposedly saw...heard us commit the violation was not. So when I pled not guilty the one officer said “excuse me your honor! Officer Johnson, I made that name up because I don’t remember what it was, is no longer with the department so there will be no evidence to present against the defendant! Evidently the officer was fired! I like to believe he was fired for being a A##hole!
