so the dmv said i need to take a driving clinic course. i forgot to, so i guessed my license got suspended. so i got a ticket for driving with suspended license. i didnt know how serious this is til i looked it up. possible 6 months jail and $1k fine. what should i do? get a lawyer or take the one they give u? i really dont want to go to jail. what if i take the course now and get my license back before court will that void the ticket?

 

I was in the same situation as you in northern VA I got a driving on suspended license. I saw 3 guys go to jail that day!!! It really sucked, they all got 6 months.

I pray for you this wasnt in Prince William County or Fairfax.

 

They have the internet in jail so you can still keep in touch.

what are you serious. **** it is in prince william, i got pulled over on 66 around manassas. what happened to you, did you go to jail? this is my first driving with suspended ever, i think its harsh punishment for first offense, va is ridiculous

 

I know of a guy who got caught driving on suspended, he got cuffed and put into jail on the SPOT. His sister bailed him out with a couple hundred and he had to go to court and get a lawyer for another grand. Driving on suspended is no joke in VA, they'll stick you in the hole for months.

I suggest you get the best lawyer in town if you don't want to be best friends with Bubba for the next few months.

Yes those guys did go to jail, but they where dumb asses wearing fubu/rocka wear to court, once guy have 14 points on his license! the other it was his 2nd offense.

My license was suspended because I owed the court system $35!!!! Thats it, so these douche bags suspend my license but because I have moved I didnt get the letters forwarded to me.

i went and paid the fine, then went to dmv and got my license reinstated and then I went to court in a suit. Walked up to the judge told him I had it taken care of and I walked out. I have a perfect record with no moving violations.


But be careful cause I though I might have gone to the pen!


I think it is ABSO****INLOOTLY a retarded law that you should go to jail for this. I mean if I was in jail for forgetting to pay 35 bucks VA cops can kiss my **** and suck my ****. I hope a whole slew of them are going to knock on my door and arrest me for this.

 

Dont feel bad. I got hit with driving on a suspended license second offense and didn't go to court so I owe VA about $2700.00 that they will never see. They have never taken me to jail. Ahhhhh gotta love a NY license. NY doesn't care what happens outta state but I can't drive through VA anymore. I think next time they will label me a habitual offender and give me a public execution.

For you though, get a lawyer or take whatever deal the DA offers. Then stay outta VA if possible.

A Fairfax cop pulled me over and started making up stories, to his initial excuse for pulling me over. Then made me do a sobriety test cause he didn't believe I had one beer.

You were guilty by admission, so of course he was going to pull you out and soberize you. Drinking and driving is not the smartest thing in the world, but unless you are obviously blasted drunk, NEVER admit to having had any drinks, even the seemingly innocent "I just had a beer or two" line.

 

I can't believe you "just forgot" to take the class. Why did the DMV tell you to take the class? What did you do? Good grief - you OWN this situation. Now you want someone to save your a$$?
