2011 MD/NOVA Auto-X Thread

It seems counter-intuitive, but the really high treadwear (all season) tires will wear VERY quickly.....even more so than the extreme summer tires. Reason being....they are intended to operate at a very low temperature. The harder rubber tends to degrade rapidly once the tire temps get above 120f. I know on John's car the tires were molten after my third run (probably 170ish degrees). The top street tires will hold together much better under heavy load and temps.
CDC is a much more family oriented atmosphere than most of the others. The food, tents, etc make it so.

Hey everyone,
I'm an intern living in Richmond this summer and I'm prepared for my first auto-x event. Had many vehicles, always wanted to give auto-x a shot, so I'm looking to do so while I'm bored on the weekends. Which spot would be best for my location? not necessarily asking what's closest, but what's worth the drive, etc... thanks for any input or any advice to give a first timer!

busted my oil pan last night 
6" rock that got kicked up in front of me that I had no choice but to hit ~3 weeks ago finally bit me in the ***. Hit a dip in the road that made me bottom out last night. Car didnt leak anything till I was home in the driveway then started to leak out 
Took it all apart to find a ballpoint pen sized hole in the lower oilpan cover 
Went up to hills today to get another one. Gonna clean it up and get it on today or tomorrow I hope.

Seriously considering buying an F-mod car....only costs ~4k to get one. 550lbs+500cc snowmobile engine+CVT trans=win.

It's an autocross on the airport just south of Cumberland, MD (it is actually a mile over the boarder in WV. It's a fun, fast autocross. Sunday is the day that BMW club sponsored....so a bunch of those guys will be there. I can link you to registration if you wish.

Registration online closed at midnight last night. You would have to walk-on. It's a 2ish hour drive each way for you, however. I actually may go on Sunday. I'm 50/50 b/w going back out there or driving over to Delaware to watch the National at Dover Speedway. It's 2 1/2 hours each way for Dover, though.

I out here in OK this week just staring at my bro-in-law's 350Z just collecting dust while he's off in Navy tech school. I think it needs to be driven, you know to make sure nothing dry rots.

I got up at 530 and it was pouring in Frederick. I went back to bed. Woke up at 8am and it was just cloudy everywhere. Bad decision. Should have gone, but at least I got to sleep in a bit.
