[NSFW] Mid-A Epic Random-ness: Third Encounter
I believe you're right about the turn 3! I've never taken it that fast though!!
Okay so I thought about everything you guys said and I think what I should do is take Zain's and Clouds advice on keeping the BC for know and get more seat time. In the mean time save my money to purchase a better quality coilover system like the KW Club Sports or equivalent so when I'm ready to upgrade I can get into something I won't need to upgrade for a long time.
Cloud are there any events going on this month I can get involved in? I thought I saw a track day on the 16th at Summit?

That's what's up. I will definitely have to get something going where everyone can come out. They have camping at Summit Point and I think it would be fun to have a big get together there with tents, and fires and shyt like that. I've always wanted to camp there.

Kyle that's good stuff. Hmmm there are some events at summit I would have to look at which ones are on main. You don't want to drive Jefferson or Shenandoah. Those tracks are just too small to really get a feel for driving hard. Maybe if you had a smaller car like a miata or S2000 they would be fun. Summit Main is where you want to be. I'll report back with some track days you could go to this month.

If my car doesn't sell as a package after the National Championships this year...I may begin parting it out, Kyle. I could probably sell you my Motons for not much more than KW Club Sports if that happens. I also have a ton of springs, etc.
Kyle I would try and max out your current setup on the Z first. Like C5 said nothing beats seat time. For instance I maxed out my Z at summit point MAIN last year. My next step is to upgrade to coil overs and Hooiser's from springs and michelin pilot super sports. I can't drive any faster on the track without better equipment. So my next upgrades on the Z are as follows:
1. Coilovers
2. Lightening the car.
3. Motor rebuild.
4. Turbo Installation.
Another example. My IS-F has been to VIR twice. The first time I had crappy yokohama advan's (stock 225/40 and 255/35). I ran a best time of 2:30.xxx. I upgraded to Michelin Pilot Super Sports (245/35 and 265/35) and my time went down to 2:21.xxx. I've driven my car to the limit (and my instructor agreed) to where I know where I can improve. My "driver" improvements will only net me about 1-1.5 seconds. If I want more than 1.1.5 seconds I know I at least need coil overs AND/OR stickier rubber. I don't need anymore power right now as it's enough on the straights.
Bottom line is more seat time the better...and again C5 is right. If you don't know how to drive your car then someone with stock everything can definitely out do you in the corners. I've seen it happen many times. My last track day in my 350z at summit showed me that. This OLD guy in a Volkswagen JETTA (not even a 1.8T) on crappy street tires was OUT cornering me and driving me. Even though I had upgraded suspension and tires. I was giving point by's to a shytty Jetta. This was the first couple of sessions. Well towards the afternoon I was eating him up and he couldn't catch me because I put bus lengths on him in the corners and straights. This was only after I got more instruction on my car.
I'm setting up a group to go to Summit on the 13th of September. There will be a Z06, F10 BMW M5, Mustang GT, My IS-f, and my 350z. You're more than welcome to come out and see what type of driver you are and to see if you can learn how to drive a road course.

Specially when you are still going with an instructor
Im guessing you are hitting every apex head on then.I can bet that you lend your car to an experienced driver at VIR, and he will take more than 10 seconds of your time.
My co-driver for National events last year runs steady 2:09's at VIR in a GTS2 car, which is basically a heavy E36 with restrictor on the motor. Something like 3200lbs and 215whp....
2:21 isn't slow, but it is only spec miata pace for wheel to wheelers.

Quite overconfident of you to think that skill will only give you 1.5 second less of your overall time on a 2 minute per lap track.

My instructor was the Chief of ALL instructor's at VIR. I trusted what he said. After my next track day I'm signed of on solo for YELLOW group which is right before black. So I like to think I am a very experienced driver. He gave me instructions that NO other instructor has ever done.
Here is what I learned in my off sessions:
Offline passing
Offline braking
Apexing with a car next to me
Proper brake zone establishment
All this was in preparation to going solo in yellow for a track day then move up to black where there are no point bys. Just wheel to wheel. So yes I'm confident I know how much I can improve at VIR because I'm that good of a driver to know what corners I could carry more speed. I also race in gokart leagues at sumnit point. Ive also raced in manyv10 hr plus enduro's. My team has finished no less than 5th out of 16 teams. These are teams fron up and fown the east coast with pro drivers. So again im an experienced driver. And what driver WOULDN'T want instruction no matter what level they are is baffaling to me. My instructor who was the chief of all of them still gets peer instruction just to keep his skills up. In end the instructor said we couldn't drive my car any faster and that we have reached the limit. I believed him after we went over everything for that weekend. Now I'm off to conquer watkins glen and barber motorsports park. You more than welcome to come out. My group that went to VIR is pretty advanced. Several solo yellow group drivers sprinkled in with blue ones. I have another group that are basically beginners going outbon the 13th lick which group you want to attend and if you want to come.
He was going
All in all I know my level of driving increased tremendously after VIR. There is no replacement for seat time. My best friend and I are going to field a car in the ford spec racer series. Then graduate to a radical sr3 or the big boy sr8
That sounds great! Just let me know!

I'll be there fo' sho'
I went w/E10 and some friends last year. We met up w/Zain in the afternoon. We were drinking since 10am-2am, apparently there was a race in Baltimore...
If any of you bishes get a chance, go see Elysium. I saw it yesterdays w/ one of my br0s and it was a damn good movie. Same director as District 9 + more funding. Its got the chump that turns into a alien as the bad guy. Be sure to pay attention to the division between the 1%-99%, HMLS, immigration reform not to mention a very good storyline.
Bring down the bone saw:
Anyone one here down to see Kickass 2 next Saturday or try to catch an early preview for Thursday night rice?
Just had my bushings installed at hills and had him to a once over on my coilovers. A lot better now, the rear spring was seated right, Frank said when he lifted the car up the spring wasn't preloaded correctly and was so loose he could have just pulled it right out. So now I feel a little better about my coils but still plan to upgrade later on down in the future.
So finally Verified my fans are the issue in the over heating issue. Do any of you guys have recomendations for aftermarket stuff or should I just stay OEM, I looked into the TSB and I think I am outside of the window. Will call to verify during business hours, but they are closed till monday. Was looking at these on amazon to rebuild the factory motors.
What do you guys think?

Just had new rear control arms put on the civic, 2007 with 130k miles. Honda paid 100%
It's worth asking. Although in your case they might play the your mods broke the fans card
Although for a fan IMO it's not worth it. You'll have to take the car in, they will agree yes, it's an issue and yes it's covered. You will have to go back once the parts come In and let them install the parts.
2 trips and 2 times the car is out of your hands and in the hands of a dealership...
Not worth it.

yeah was hoping i could just swap parts with them there and not have to bring the car in, if its two trips I am going to have to pass on that route. So guess it comes down to replacing the motors or aftermarket set up.
