G35 Daily Driver Burning oil
So as my title says I got a 2005 g35 about 3 months ago for 13k. It has 75k miles on it. I just found out it is definitely burning oil in the engine.
So what do you guys think? just keep topping it off and let it ride?
or try and get rid of this car and find something else?
or maybe replace the engine and keep it for ever like I am the Z?

just got it back from the dealer, it had 1 qt in it after 3 months, so a lot....
apparently the guy I got it from had this issue 1 year ago and never got it fixed for free....my dealer is trying to see if they can get my engine covered, this sucks. dunno if I am ever going to be able to get rid of it now, guess I will just keep it topped off

if it got down to 1 qt there's almost certainly some serious damage. If you bought it this way from a dealer than stick it to them, that's BS. Work on getting it fixed along with a plan B (get rid of it ect).
Doubt it was from a dealership.
BTW anytime you buy a new car, even if brand new, always check the oil everytime you fill up until you get an idea of if there's any usage and if so, how much.
Some cars do burn oil, my wifes civic is pushing 120K miles and has burned oil since day one. Oil reports show that the engine is very healthy.

1 quart left in it!?! How the FAWK do you not hear how rough the valve train and engine ticked with that little oil?
That car is permanently damaged in the bottom end now. You will spin a bearing in the future. The damage is done. Get out of it ASAP.

Yeah I am trying to get out of it now, I did notice a sound that started about last week. Right now I am looking at selling it on craigs list or just going to get a dealer to take it on a trade it for a new truck. I need something that can Tow the Z anyway

Call around to see if any local shops have another motor, put it in and sell it. or just keep it.
What's it worth blown? guessing way less than working.
Look how long it took ethan to find a motor.
What kind of example is that? He found a motor in a matter of minutes. It took him a month to find one at the -_- price HE was willing to pay.
When it comes to off loading a car the OP needs to weigh out his options.
higher mileage G35 04-05ish
guessing with these numbers.
G35 with a blown motor might pull 6-7K?
G35 with a working motor listed at a price to sell asap 12K-13K?
My guess is his car is worth roughly 4-5K more with a working motor VS a blown motor.
So while Ethans budget was $500. The OPs budget would be closer to $4000 before losing money.
another option worth pricing out is rebuilding it. Find out what some of the local shops would charge to do an OEM spec engine build.

I would rather sell it, I don't want the hassle to replace a motor in the car that was designed to be my daily driver.
Its not really a street car, It has no interior is loud as hell and I need to bring my extra set of tires. If I am driving over 1.5 hours then yeah, why not tow it with what I have?
and then driving to VIR wich is 4.5 hours away from me, and summit point which is quite far also. The car spends most of its life on the trailer I never really drive it on the street any more anyway
