350Z Vs Bullit Mustang
well the other day i was comming home from a run up in the mountians of palos verdes. just hitting the corners for fun. really helps me relax. so im comming home around 11:30 pm and i come to a see a black bullit mustang GT on my left. as i go by him i throw him a rev. he looks over and i nodd at him. we both approach the light one lane apart. and between us is an old volvo. the driver of the volvo rolls down his wondows and hes with a couple of his friends and says to me. eh man thats my hommie in the mustang why dont you smoke him, and i say hey why not. so he tels his friend in the mustang and he nodds and we wait for the light to turn green. it appears he has a passenger with him while i was alone. i rev to 2200rpms and held it there. light turns green. i release and i get only a chirp. not the best launch but its better then exessive spin. on launch i got a couple of feet on him seems as he sat there and spun for a sec. first gear ends and i speed shift into second jumping infront of him. second i begin to pull im about 1.5 cars ahead. third comes around no gain no loss as seen from my perspective since he was in my rear view. third winds out im about 2 cars ahead. at this point there are cars infront of me so i jump infront of the guy and keep at it. i look at my digital speedo and it reads 103 so i decide to cutt it off. at this point i was 2.5 to 3 cars infront of the guy. we slow down i roll down my window and say peace to the guy and make a U turn to go back home. it was a very good run i had fun.

Zracer,
The speedo in the main cluster in analog, but the trip computer can be set to show the digital speed if desired (or outside temp, Distance to empty, tire pressure - if equipped, shift light setting, avg speed, avg MPG).

order of performance depends on which saleen...there's the N/A and the supercharged...
doesn't really matter though, they're all still rustangs built on a chassis from the 70s

1- Cobra (03)
2-Saleen (Depends on what model Saleen)
3- Bullitt (not much different than a regular GT)
Somebody correct me if I am wrong, but I think this is how it is

2- if u are behind the car look for the 281 Saleen decal, U will see supercharged written under the 281 SALEEN decal. If its not SC'd u will just see 281 SALEEN written on the back.
3- Try to look for a gauge with two meters on the dash board if u got the chance. If u found one that means its SC'd.
I think these are the only ways to tell if its SC'd or not.

Are you sure it was a Bullit? 2001 GTs look a lot like Bullits if you dont know what to look for.
Not to call BS, but I dont believe that you would take him out of the hole. Those bullits run 0-60 in 5.4 daily, and will run high 13s... thanks to their free flowing intake and better exhaust...
Nice run tho. 350Z and Bullit Mustang are dead even in a quarter mile race.

2.5-3 car lengths, do you have self-calibrated vision an amazing rear view mirror? I've tried and tried and tried over the past 14 years of racing (and not on the street), and I couldn't tell you 20feet from 40feet accurately behind me. Maybe I suck but I've never found anyone who could come within even 20feet of being right, let alone 1/2 a car length.

it was an estimate. thats why it said 2.5 to 3 cars. but just for you in my next race il stop midway and ask the other looser to stop so we can mesure the distance between our cars. il have him sign a sheet of paper saying, that the above mesurment is true and have it notarized. that way when you nitpick stupid things like this il have proof to back it up with

Now like I said, I'm no expert on the whole car length gauge of winning a race but lets say the average length of a modern day car (not SUV) is around 5 to 6 meters (16-20 feet). Now if we say 2.5 car lengths is 15 meters and 3 car lengths is 18meters, then in this example there's a small window of 3 meters for accuracy. ****, I'd couldn't tell you 5 meters, probably closer to 10, yet we've got a win range of 3 meters.
I guess what I'm trying to get at is in the above race it's quite possible the Mustang was closer then 3 'car lengths' or could have been even more behind which a matter of 10 meters is a big difference in gauging the performance of a street race between two cars.
