Another California Track Day; Buttonwillow on 3/21
This is a great track. It is really good for beginners too with good runoff room. Hopefully we can get more Z's there and eventually get our own class (we need at least 5). Come out guys, it would be great to meet you:

I'm considering bringing my car west for a run at Speedventures Buttonwillow day. Unfortunately, it's about a 1300 mile trip one-way from Denver and the weather can be somewhat uncertain in March. Still, I'd love to meet you, D'oh and other California 350Z fanatics.
Are there any other track events around that time that might sweeten the deal for me? The only other thing I've heard about is a afternoon lapping day at Pacific (formerly Seattle International) Raceways the following Monday. THAT would be a haul!
Also, if we get 5 350Zs how do

Hey Raceboy, just looked at the site. Cool club and cheap prices. I have a couple of questions. Is this more like roadracing where they let you all go at once or time trials where they let you out in intervals? I don't know if I'm ready for roadracing. Maybe after a couple of time trial events I'll join you. Another question, what happens if we get our own class? Thanks.

You all go out at once (grouped in 3 groups according to speed or skill). You can run timing or not. If we get 5 Z's running timing then we will have our own intercar championship. This is run in a qualifying format with your fastest lap of the day being the only one that counts. You are not racing wheel to wheel, strictly for times.
3/21 Eh? Maybe I can swing that.
Importriders, I did my first ever track day at Laguna Seca a few weeks ago, and it was sooooo much fun. I went in the novice group and was easily able to hold my own. In fact, I think next time I will go in the intermediate group where hopefully the cars are a bit faster. I was having to pass quite a bit in the novice group.
Anyhow, it really is tons of fun, and other than significant wear on the brakes and tires the car held up very well. I will need new brakes though, before the next track day.
Maybe it's time for that stoptech front brake kit.

Well, sure, throw logic back at me.
The problem is those front brakes look so darn small on the 18" wheels.
Every time I see that cavernous opening I want to do something about it, even if it doesn't change the performance that much. Dammit, I guess that makes me a ricer. Hehe.

Also, Raceboy and D'oh, I would definitely be down with setting up a class for Z's. I'm in for the next Cali event you guys go to. As long as it is on the weekend.

I'm not sure if there is any room left. They do advice that you have your car tech'd before the event, and I think the registration deadline for the event was the 22nd, then you have to pay late fees. I would give them a call though or e-mail them to make sure.

Hey guys...after doing Buttonwillow this past weekend I'm thinking about getting sick on the 21st and joining you guys. Are you going D'oh? And D'oh was that you that showed up at Buttonwillow late Sunday? It was a Brickyard with Touring/Performance rims and shiny as hell. Thought maybe it was you.
I'll definitely know for sure tomorrow. My friend is trying to get the day off to join me.

Hehe, just replied to your PM.
So who all was able to go? I'm interesting in hearing about this event since I was not able to attend. Any cool stories and pictures?
I've decided to focus on some AutoX's and NorCal tracks, so Sears Point and Thunderhill (and Laguna again if fundage permits) are probably all I'm gonna be doing. However, I still want to drive vicariously through you guys. Please post details!
Thanks,
D'oh!

Well, there was a chrome silver Z there on Sunday that ran with the time trial group. And later that day a Brickyard came to watch. On saturday I was the only Z.
I summarized the weekend iin this thread:

There is a NASA event at Thunderhill first weekend in April. I think it is only $179/day or $279 for two days. I instruct for NASA and have yet to see a Z out there. Anyway, the last event was lightly attended and there was a lot of track time with not too much traffic.
