I think i'll start with intake + chip. Figuring the intake is ~$200, whats the going price for the GIAC chip?
You can get an AEM CAI for $171 from www.adventon.com (great site!), and that'll release the muffled BOV sound into atmosphere. So you'll have a BOV sound also...

GIAC cost me $495 installed, plus free upgrades. Most GTI/Jetta 1.8T GIAC chips cost about the same.

Living inside a bubble, eh? You fail to see the truth, because the truth is outside the bubble.

Let me show you a "heavily" modded 1.8T

That was a 2002 GTI 1.8T 5 speed with (Now make sure you follow me here):

APR chip, DR's, and dump tube.

Or, how about this... 14.0@99mph

^^^ 2002 GTI 1.8T 5 speed
Mods? These are the mods:

Weight reduction and intake. Stock rubber.
That's a 180hp car we are talking about (or in this case, with intake... 185hp)

I have a beetle turbo and a Z and I assure you. A mildly modded 1.8 will definitely hang if not beat the Z. I hate to say it but its true. I'm getting ready to throw a chip, exhaust and turbo upgrade for under $2K on the beetle. I'll post results in a few weeks.

And what he doesn't understand... I guess he didn't read the whole thread.... is that I don't drive a stock 180hp GTI 1.8T.

But in any case, for the love of God, I don't want this into a debate.

Stock for stock the 350Z kills (and that's a big KILLS!!) a GTI 1.8T. But it doesn't take much to make a turbocharged car quick for little money (or few mods).

from a roll, it could be close, believe me, I own both cars.

guess it all depends on what you consider "heavily modded", remember it is a Turbo so huge gains in HP/torque come at a VERY cheap price.

FYI, the beetle will not see as large of gains in HP as the TT, GTI, Jetta, A4, and passat 1.8t's, they are slightly different and the chip won't let it put out as much HP as the others, BUT it still is BETTER.
