Default Z vs Ls1 Z28 Video

I raced my friends ls1 z28 and here is the video. The race wasn't as close as before. Usually were neck and neck and its whoever gets the jump. Today though he just smoked me in fourth gear.

Nice video. Is your buddy's car an M6 or A4? I'm guessing it's the M6, since he really pulled you in your 4th gear. That's 3rd for an LS1, and that's a hell of a gear for our cars.

Tell your buddy nice car. Silver Z28 here as well.

Yep, its a M6. Once I shifted to fourth he just ran away. As far as launches go we both had good ones so we were both on equal footing.

Default Passengers?

You had a passenger in the Z, was the Z28 driver alone? Regards, Jim

The last time I drove an Ls-1 I was amazed at the torque. I wouldn't pay any kind of money for one but they are impressive.

Thank you, they can be necks snappers... When i bought mine i wasnt worried about the interior design, i thought more about power and exterior looks...

that video was closer than I thought it would be after reading your thread, Take the extra person out of your car and it even gets closer (you probably still get beat, but by less) nothing to be ashamed of (remember this is NOT a drag car)

When you shift into 4th the 1/4 mile is pretty much gone isn't it....i mean, that was a hell of a race. It looks like you pulled on him in first gear and at the end of 3rd he was only about 1 car ahead. That was awesome man. This video is very comparable to the races i've had with LS1's...very close until 4th, then their hp runs away with it.

He only has intake and exhaust mods. I have only exhaust mods but wasn't running my off road exhaust (which is an open exhaust past the cats). What I did on this run was remove the muffler and only use the premuffler.

Jesus christ, i revved in 2nd gear up to like 6800 rpm or something, i revved past 6400 rpm(didn't notice), the car was kind of rattling, the rpm stayed at 6800 and wouldn't go on further, sure it was the rev limiter, but that stupid stunt of me cost me horsepower and time. Mainly time. I still need to learn how to drive my car, i drove a 94 3000gt sl, and as you know, it was slow, it didn't rev as quick as the z33, so i was used to the feel of the 3kgt. we stopped at a gas station, he told me it wasn't stock, but i asked him how much bhp was in his ls1 when it was stock, he said around 305 bhp(any maro guys know what year this z28 was??), he didn't tell me how much he was putting to the wheels now, but he told me he had (filter, reprogrammed ecu, pulley/cams, little bit more stuff). He told me that my car was quick and looked nice. Yeah, i guess quick from a roll....Do ls1s really shine in 3rd + 4rth gears?
First off you jumped him (rice racing) so you deserved to hit your limiter.
Also a LS1 wouldn't have cams....it only has 1.

Yes LS1s shine in 3rd and 4th gears.....if you look at the track time in my sig (only mod a airlid) the 110 mph trap should show how hard a good running well driven LS1 can pull at tripple digit speeds.

Ha said he had a cam huh??? A cam in an LS1 with all the other goodies you mentioned would net you in the 350-400 rwhp range, depending on the lumpiness of the cam. Unless the guy was a total idiot behind the wheel, it would have looked like you put it into reverse. Plenty of LS1s have gotten deep into the 11s with cam being the only engine mod.

I'm going to have to agree.....a local with just a cam and bolt-ons has run 11.1 @ 124 mph.....it would look like you threw a parashoot out.
