Default Went to the track today...

Here's the timeslip of my best run... I ran the 14.219 @ 102.25. I was running 14.5's all day until I finally learned how to launch properly (albeit still a bit cautious). Jonsilvz ran .01 seconds slower than I did in his 5AT touring today as well. Those ATs are quite impressive... he was more consistent than I was, that's for sure. I'm pretty happy with my trap speed, and I think I can hit consistent high 13's once i learn to nail those 2.0x 60fts.

Pretty good times. What was your corrected launch technique, if I may ask?

I slipped at 2000 RPMs, giving it a lot less gas. Very little wheelspin and locked pretty quickly. I think with a little tinkering off the line, I can get into the 2.0x 60ft range... resulting in high 13's.

try launching at 3000-3500 with a slip...that's how I pull off consistant 2.0x short times...

By "slip", do you guys mean riding the clutch or actually sidestepping it?

Actually neither. Riding the clutch is bad and can burn your clutch up very quickly. It wouldn't allow you to put the engines power fully to the ground....EVER.

Sidestepping the clutch is "dropping" the clutch. This is how most people launch their cars, and it usually results in wheelspin and high 60ft times.

"slipping the clutch" is letting the clutch out slower than a drop, but quicker than you would taking off from a normal stop. You get the revs up, and let out the clutch fairly rapidly while applying gas and "feeling" for traction. It takes a while to get used to and most people have trouble with it because they tend to keeping dumping the clutch too quickly.

Themyst:

Curious, where did you run your car? I'm on Long Island and looking for a good local strip.

Long island motorsports

Mostly domestics, a few bikes, and very few imports... but I got 15 runs in over there in a 3 hour period. Sure got my $50 bucks worth. If you're interested in making runs over there, swing me a message, i'm always down to go.

Heres another one of my runs. I'm #406... trapping 3mph lower in the 1/4, but 1mph higher in the 1/8. I'm not the most consistent driver out there, so anything could've happened. No problems with the sensor... but I trapped at 102, not 104.

Jon - Once i learn how to launch that bastard into the 2.0x range, i'll hit 13s.. But anyway, I had a blast, I'm down to go again, whenever weather permits (dry and in the 70-80 degree range) I WILL hit 13's next time .. hehe. Next time, I'll try to get a bigger caravan of cars (not just Zs) to come out to the track.

Sounds good my goal is 14.00. I think its possible with brake torque and 1/4 gas.

Hey guys I'm interested in goin to LI Motorsports Track with you, when this weather finally clears up. I wanted to go this past weekend, hopefully it clears by next weekend. Let me know how i can meet up w/ you, and we'll go have a good day of racing. I heard its closing down soon is that true, they talk about it all the time but I don't think it will. Is the entrance fee $50 to race? Get back to me, thanks.
