Problem with ANY poll is sample size, sample location, gender, race, etc.
Any one of those factors can skew results let alone when adding them all together.

Personally I think the Z is a much better looking car...but i'm sure SRT-4 owners see it another way.

 

If everyone looks at the question without bias and from a car enthusiast point of view, I think there would be no argument that the SRT-4 is a much better buy than a Z from a performance to dollar ratio. Looks are always going to be subjective so how about we just throw that part out. The question is which is faster and I noticed SOME Z owners got a little defensive about some of the answers and started to throw looks and what a real man would prefer into it and now we are here. The Z is a good value for the money if you want good performance with refinement and racing lineage. The SRT-4 is an outstanding buy if you want good performance but are not concerned with refinement or a high level of standard equipment. I think that's being fair to both cars.

Marc's R/T is correct with the exception that it was a Cobra owner that started the "grown man" statement, where it went down hill from there.

 

F-Bodies have GREAT drivetrains but the car itself is a POS. I hate working on them. They are built so cheaply. Every time I crawl under one to do an engine swap or even replace brake pads I cringe. The chassis in those cars is just poo.

RX-7's have an awesome chassis but the engine is about the least reliable engine made.

The solution: buy an RX7 and buy the LS1 conversion kit. You would have a sweet all around car.

Back on topic.

The neon is still a neon. Neon's suck, doesn't matter how fast they go. Just like a Civic. If it is a 7 second Civic, it is still a POS. It's not all about speed IMHO. Quality, handling, and LOOKS! Looks get them wet, not speed!

on a lighter note, this is what is so great about the internet. i get to watch grown adults with enough money to reasonably afford all thier wants agrue like little school girls over something somewhat trivial hehe

sure the z is a nicer car, but lets get real. to someone who doenst have any money, like me, the srt is a pretty sweet buy

You know i saw one the other day, it looks every bit as good (exterior) as the evo or sti. Actually, the evo is ugly, I would say its a tossup between the STI and NEON as far as exterior looks go. I dont think they look bad at all (taking the price into conseration). The interior is pretty cheap, but better than the F-body and those were more expensive.

For the price, they cant be beat. Look at it this way, the Mazdaspeed protege has much nicer interior and looks better, but it lacks in the power/engine department. the money clearly went into the refinement of the car. In the neons case, the money went into the engine/turbo.

Damn good car for the money and nothing to be ashamed of.

 

I think that we have gone down all avenues and aspects of this comparison so can we just move on already?

Seriously,yeah, I also have to agree but on the other hand I think a Mazda 6 would be a better buy then a Dodge Neon SRT-4. This may seem irrelevant in comparison to Mazda's vehicles but I think the Srt-4 should be categorized with Dodge's impressive new neon SRT-4. Just my 0.5cents.

 

stupid to bash the srt4. that thing is awesome. i think most people would rather have a z but the neon is a great car.
