350Z vs G35
hello,
i was wondering, on average, who would win this race. i ran a g35 "with exhaust" a few weeks back, but i never raced a Z.
pretty cool dude. his car sounded awesome (that high pitched "ferrari-type" sound.)
raced 2 times, and he got me off the line both times...by the time i hit the top of 1st, i would pull even, then pull very hard in 2nd . we shut down soon after that, since we were on the streets.
g35 and 350z---both gorgeous cars

I raced a 350Z(6mt, stock) a few weeks ago in my stock G35C. From 40-100, he had 1/2 car on me and he pulled that at 50. From there, we were glued that way until about 100.
BTW, torque for the G35C is 270, 274 for the Z.

My best friend from college lives 45 min away from me and just got a G35 coupe 6MT.
Hopefully, we'll have this question answered in the next few weeks.
I'm pretty sure he's a better driver than me, so, we'll see.

it should be a drivers race. given equal drivers the z should pull VERY slightly due to the extra weight in the g. hp and tq are not an issue. 7 hp and 4 tq is not going to do anything.

I drove a G35 the other day and it is a NICE car. Rode as smoothe as a Caddie and handled like it was on rails.
I was impressed.

Was driving on the "on" ramp and a beautiful black Z was in front of me. He noticed the G behind him and the tempo picked up a bit. As soon as we were on the highway, we both nailed it. I was still behind, but the G pulled hard and I steadily came up on him and got in front. I slowed when we got to 100 and his front bumper was around my rear wheel well area. He got behind me until traffic cleared, then slowly passed; we both did the thumbs up.
Not sure if his was manual or 5AT, but my G is a 5AT.
Nice friendly encounter.

I drove this one guy's 6 speed G35 at a track. Just driving it around the parking lot (taking it up to ~4-5K rpms), the car felt a bit slower than the Z. Having nearly identical engines, I attribute this to the extra weight in the G. Performance wise, the additional weight & more restrictive intake (or whatever the 7hp less is) is noticeable.
I smoked the guy in the 1/4 mile (he was the shittiest driver).
peace
