Is the upgraded oil pump all you need for cooling and lubrication essentially to run 8,000+ rpm? And its the nismo pump right?

dam with your valvetrain problems, you shoulda looked into Amuse or tomei valvetrain components that are made for around 8k. I actually have a video of the amuse 350z, reving to 8k no sweat around the track!

Amuse engine uses nismo heads = expensive.

eat rice Z33,

With the heads, they are running Spec 2 heads with titanium valve train set from VQ45 engine, that will require a lot more labour jobs than the Ferrea valve train set with stock heads... And of course as what Jarek mentioned, those heads are VERY expensive and they aren't just straight bolt-on parts. We never knew Nismo valve springs were not strong enough, else we would have ordered the Ferrea valvetrain set already in the first place! My misfortune is everyone's gain and also Ferrea components are good for up to 10K rpm... so this time the engine should be good now...

Turbo Maxima:

With the oil pump, yes, it is for that purpose... but I am not too sure if 05 pump is nismo pump... we put a few washers with the 05 pump and the oil pressure was sooo high, we need to take those washers down according to my engine builder when the heads are off again... we also modified oil routes in the engine (I don't know how exactly that was done), just to lubricate the internal parts further at higher rpm.

cheers,

richie

Update from Ferrea (Nice people to speak to though and very helpful too!), they told me that those valve spring seat locators are interchangeable so either SL1056 or SL1057 is fine... but it is better for me to have SL1057 as what XRC suggested because those seat locators are designed for those Ferrea valve guides... No more confusion here!

cheers,

richie

Nismo heads are basically VQ30 heads, which would raise his compression even higher.

turbo-maxima,

You are correct... the compression ratio will shot up to pretty darn high with the HCR pistons and those heads... and that's what Nismo Z33 R1 Proto is all about... it runs 13.1:1 compression ratio using Spec 2 heads and forged pistons, not too sure if you need race fuel for that setup though.

cheers,

richie

1/2 & 1/2 actually. VQ35 ports into VQ35 combustion chambers

I got those Ferrea parts late, so need to reschedule the time with the machine shop and go from there, shouldn't be too long before I put those valve train parts in... will surely keep you guys posted on how it goes.

Let the story continues....

Just got those heads back from the machine shop after 3 weeks of wait due to they need to rescedule their works to fit my job in...

They come back this afternoon and Nizpro's Simon & Dave were putting the heads back to the engine... expecting the car to be alive again on Wed. and Thursday.... haven't driven my car for 2 months already and it is finally coming back together

Ferrea Valve, Dual Springs, valve guides, titanium retainers, seat locators, valve seals and nismo spec 1 cams in their places...

Close up pic... Cams are in the position to push those valves slightly open...

Ferrea intake valves with valve guides...

Simon (left) and Dave were torquing down one of the cylinder heads in the clean room..

cheers,

richie

Great project you have going and I am just as anxious to see the outcome as if it were mine.

Gotta give credit where it is due and you definately deserve it!

Good luck and hope it makes a ton of power.

Good luck man.. i thought about going NA.. but decided on Boost.. maybe you'll set a standard for NA cars so that more and more people will try to reach your goals..

on my old integra i had 12.4/1 compression and it ran on 93 octane fine.. a 13.1.. will prbably at least need 96 or with some timing being pulled. still 13.1 is streetable.. once u get in the 15-16 range then yes race gas for sure.
