Just a thought I guess, ultimately you are measuring new setup vs old any improvement would be nice.

Also forgot to mention, the first setup we tested on the dsm was with the box only, which did minor improvements, it is only when the headlight was removed that helped the engine air escape and the intake was actually sucking in colder outside air.
I don't have the coolant hoses connected anymore, we bypassed those when we did the throttle body install. The way the sensor is connected is actually alot better in my tuners opinion, because it's reading for a worst case scenario. Even if it's in the MAF, the sensor is still being heated by external sources too. I suppose I could build a shield for the sensor, but to what end? I don't think insulating the sensor is really the culprit - getting cool air into the plenum is the key. Last night driving home from dinner, it was around 60 out - intake temps measured no higher than 82F on a 30 minute drive that was a combo of highway (where temps stayed right around 74-76F and backroad stuff (around 40 mph). Given where the sensor is, that seemed really nice to me. It's when the ambient temps go up that things change exponentially, which is what I think more of a box design will help limit (hopefully!)

oh no I don't mean the sensor itself needs insulating, but rather the temp it's getting isnt the air that's entering but one heated by the radiant heat of the engine. If the tune is setup this way it's perfectly fine, since you are still comparing what you have currently to an updated setup. The box will definitely help in the long run.

Adam, I know originally you had said that you were going to fab a long tube CAI setup before the sealed airbox idea came up a few weeks ago. What was the logic behind that? Was your focus the IATs with that too, or was there something to gain with the longer piping in regards to fluid dynamics and how the air behaves traveling to the TB/IM, etc?

I feel like the CAIs have long been debated as to whether or not they make power and I was wondering if maybe a built motor (cams, compression, etc) is better setup for this type of intake.

I just dont want to deal with having to remove the bumper to do a simple filter cleaning, so I think a box will give me everything I need

http://cornerbalance.wordpress.com/2...-racepak-dash/

next up, get the damn fuel level to display (we'll get back on that this week if time allows)+ get the oil temp sensor installed

that was a lot of reading, but well worth it. i hope to achieve something similiar engine wise, but not quite to that level and without all the extras. nice build, cool to see it go in different directions over time
