Congrats on your build sir. This is something that I want to do w/ my S14 in the near future also, but in conjunction w/ a PowerLab GT35R kit and ProEFI I think PowerLab is actually considering making kits specific for S13 and S14 chassis, as well as turbo kits for the swap. 400whp/380ft tq on 6psi 2800lb S-chassis wins.

Again, props.

Fits in there just perfect...did you start the wiring yet do you have to reuse any of the stock wiring? I'm in the middle of removing all the wiring in my s13 and stripping out all the crap I don't need anymore, then my swap kit should be coming in the next few weeks

Nice job on the swap.

I am doing a VQ swap in my S13 and had some fit issues with the VQ swap as well. From the pics of the crossmember it looks like it isn't even an S chassis brace at all. My engine crossmember bolted to the chassis fine, but the shifter bracket doesn't line up with the transmission. When you are getting a custom kit like this, especially with a more rare and new swap there will be issues, but I just haven't had time to either send it back or try to bend it to fit. I also lack a welder so the swap is very interesting.

FYI for you Z guys, the 240SX comes stock with the 4.083 FD, so not only is it lighter, but it already has the more aggressive gearing.

Doesn't San Dimas Auto in Cali have a kit for this swap?

That's the kit that I'm using right now, i have their x-member, shifter relocator and isolators. IMHO, it isn't worth buying. . .the parts are a lot simpler that I thought they would be and i've had a lot of trouble with what they gave me.

I'm back up at work right now at Hope Bay for 4 weeks so I won't be able to work on the car for a while. I'll be doing plenty of research and planning for the next steps (wiring, suspension, interior) and ordering more parts lol!

Thanks for the positive comments guys i'm just as stoked as you to see this happen!

Excellent write-up of the conversion - fair dues to you!

I'm looking at doing this myself with my SX but adding custom exhaust manifolds (headers?) and a twin-turbo setup so it's interesting to see how little room is left under the heads in the same chassis I intend to use. It's given me food for thought!

Why did you choose the engine-management you did? Are you using the standard Z guages etc or using the SX guages?

I planned on originally using the Utec because it seemed the best for cost at the time of purchase. I'll be using that in the G now and getting a Haltech for the s14. . .

as far as the gauges go I'll be using the OEM s14 gauges. . .

Still using the 2 ECU setup though, yeah?

That won't cause any conflict with the stock ECU then, no?

yep will still be using 2 ecu's. .. imo the haltech is a very sophisticated piggyback. . .

as far as problems with the gauges/ecu i'll have to use a dakota signal adapter. . .i haven't done this before so it'll be a learning experience for me lol. . .it's been done by people using the 1jz/2jz swap .. .

Nice, i've been pondering a twin turbo setup on this for the past few weeks, i'm having a welder come check it out and see what he can do for it. . .

if so, i'll transfer the n/a parts onto the g35 and go for 300whp n/a on it. . .

i'll be home in a few days so there'll definately be an update!
