Actually, those kind of NA horsepower numbers are possible on a very high compression (over 15 to 1) VQ with full Motec EMS and a LOT of other work. It is not a streetable engine by any stretch of the imagination and would cost more then the car did brand new, a lot more.

Hell, my old racing Datsun SOHC two valve L6 3L made 294 at the rear wheels with 14 to 1 CR, Motec, and lots of custom parts. A VQ with variable valve timing, 4 valves per cylinder, and .5L more displacement should be able to add a bunch more. Typical top end NA race engines make 120hp per liter.

what if it was rebuilt to 4.2 or 4.5L? would that not possibly produce those numbers?

Found that N/a build http://www.jeimportperformance.com/n...s/Stroker_VQ35
Video of the dyno is at the bottom as well...

Tuned with an e-manage, all the money for a stroker and use a cheap ems

Is this for real? I'd be interested to hear more from this shop. There are a lot of talented guys struggling to make 300rwhp...and here we have 376? Someone educate me.

Thanks

not familiar with dyno graphs but usually they state WHP, in their case they didn't. . . and doesn't it say flywheel hp at the top of it?

Most of the people struggling to make 300hp are using the stock bore and stroke VQ35. The engine in this article increases the size of the VQ from 3.5 liters to over 4.1 liters. It has sleeves so the engine can be bored larger and a new stroker crankshaft to increase the overall size of the engine. More cubic inches (liters) makes more horsepower.

The Dynapack in the article seems to be measuring or calculating horsepower and torque at the flywheel. I'm not sure what's up with that. I don't know much about DynaPack dynos. It would be nice if they tested the engine on a DynoJet so we all could relate.

There really is no secret though. The BC stroker kit is very expensive and its installation is more complicated and expensive that assembling a normal VQ35 engine. I thought about getting one but didn't want sleeves and didn't want to spend the extra money on the stroker kit.

This is the first NA stroker kit anyone has built. There isn't much other information available on that combination. Time will tell...

I apologize, I should have read the sheet more carefully. It clearly says "fly wheel power". I assumed it was rwhp.

I'll call this shop on monday to ask more about this. Anyone care to guess at the cost of this build and actual rwhp numbers?

Thanks,
Justin
