hey wats up guys. ive been doin some research and om considering doing cams to my car. i have an 05 de and want the car to make power past 6200 rpm. ive read on the different cams and there lift and duration but wanna know what cam would be good to use for increased topend and wouldnt affect my drivability. i want to keep the oem valvetrain aswell
I'm told by an experienced other from the board that the stock valve springs can be used well with the Cosworth oversized valves and heads I have so aside from some risk of valve float, you should be able to keep your heads as is. I would get a bit of work done on the heads though if it were mine.

Are there any cams that i can use with the stock valves that can give me what i need out of my car without havin to replace everything. Im no looking for a cam from hell just one that will help make power pass the 6200rpm point

It was painful getting through all the typos, the answer is listed on almost every cams description whether or not you can run stock valve springs. Making power over 6200 is not just the cam.
It basically takes re-engineering the whole engine to target significant power increase >6200rpms, however pretty decent increases can be had in the stock powerband with some mild cams. For instance I believe the JWT cams can be used with even the stock springs within stock redline limits and the gains they quote on their site of 13whp seam pretty consistent with what else I've seen. I don't think the $1200 is worth 13whp though. I would rather use it towards more aggressive cams with a more significant build--I think most people probably would.
Um you do not have to use aftermarket valves. I have jwt cams with stock valves. I do have jwt springs. You can get large cams from jwt, they are not listed on the website. You do have to call and order them. I was told this by jim wolf. They make custom big cams for racers. I would use brian crower springs and titanium retainers with jwt cams. My engine makes power all the way up to 7k rpms with jwt s7 cams. The powerband on my engine is 4k rpms to 7k rpms at the fuel cutoff. I need to up the limiter too 8500 and shift around 8k

I can't wait to see what you do next.
I have a question while we're talking about cams here,
A Procharger set up WILL happenbefore the end of the year, so what kinda cam profile/valve train set up should I look for now to install with my NA set up that would be compatible/beneficial with the S/C set up to come???
....for my 04 de

something without much overlap - Tomei 264's would be my personal choice
and I'd toss those headers to the curb, they ain't doing a thing for you (except making some noise)

+1, I haven't seen anyone who gained anything with borla headers. Most I have seen lost power.
for the record, I did lose power according to a dyno test at first.
The only way I figured to remedy this problem at first was to get a tune done. I ask around on who'd be the best guy for it and was referred to Dave at Functioned tuned. The out put after the tune feels really good and its not in my head cause of the sound(which is actually really nice IMO)
But to go experimenting with new headers with installation I dont think will be worth the product and labor. Plus until I climb into another N/A Z with a different exhaust manifold set up to show me, I dont think it will be worth labor/product. I'd go back and try a different set up if I could go back in time though.
I dont how much it will matter if im FI with a Procharger and valvetrain upgrade. But I always do respect everyones input here. this being my first Nissan, its definitely not like my fiance's EVO IX, or my old CRX H22a.
