It is really frustrating, the money tied up, being at the mercy of shops that say they can and will provide the service, then sit on your parts for months, waiting for shops that say they will call back with an estimate and never do having a guy call ranting at you after he fuc*s up and on and on.
I leave u girls alone for a while and I come back to this?! You 2 are grounded! No dessert either!
I understand your frustration bro. Just send me your shyt and ill make sure it runs
Yeah it all adds up. The crank is obviously the heaviest part tho. Good luck with it tho. Nust stay on top of it with the builder every step of the way.
If your edgy about shipping it just find a good machine shop, they will generally do an great job regardless of their expertise (big block or import). If we were talking about head porting that's a different story but basic engine building is the same, get the clearences right and torque it correct. Key term, GOOD machine shop. The good news, that last builder (if you can call him that) couldn't have put more than a few hours on that, and taking it apart is rather simple and can be done by you. The hard part in building an engine is getting those little details right. There's nothing tough about tearing it down, its merely turning ratchets. Honestly, there may even be a Nissan tech in your area looking for side work and is familiar with bottom ends and will do it for a few hundred. Lots of possibiltes just do your homework and find a good one, not the first one and not the convenient one.
The machine shop that did the heads & block will do it. I just have decide if I want to have the motor put together and then take it somewhere else to install it. They don't do that.
no bashing. just simply stating how much the 2nd shop is slack and incompetent. i would wanna know if i was in your area and building a motor, but if that were the case....you'd have me putting it together
Anyone in the area most likely can deduce shop 1 from pictures, shop 2 is a general mechanic not Nissan guy and he tried/got frustrated so I prefer to let it lie. No one looking for much more than general repairs is using him.
weird. maybe he's just a honda guy. you know a nissan/infiniti tech can work on a honda, but a honda tech cant work on a nissan either way, bad business
