New 07 Touring Coupe
So, effective at 2100 hours PST, in the greatest city on Earth, Los Angeles (with the worst hockey team, the Kings...grrrrr), I became the proud owner of my first ever Nissan. It is Black Touring Coupe with Navigation, XM Radio (I only buy cars with XM--how else am I going to listen to the Stanley Cup playoffs), aero package, and 5AT.
It was between this car and a Grand Touring similarly equipped, but I just couldn't convince myself that the few grand more (the dealer wouldn't budge on list price) and the 6MT was worth it. I really think a car like this one deserves a manual, but the auto is so smooth, and some of my commutes are so annoying, I went with auto. Besides, I'm nearly 50, and my fun driving in the canyons is focusing on the curves, and not using heel/toe to get the perfect acceleration. But that's all IMHO, and I was close. One sleepless night was what it took.
I put on a hundred miles last night, and I'm quite happy. A couple of annoyances appeared. What Nissan Engineer thought that having a clock on the radio and the Nav system that need to be independently set was a good idea? The lack of any storage up front is a bit annoying. But those are nits, not anything real. Well the clock thing really is silly.
Well, it's daylight now, I woke up early this Sunday to admire the car. BTW, this site helped me in my decision. I particularly enjoyed reading 429 threads on AT vs MT. I swear asking if Bush is a good president would bring up less hostility!!!

Well good morning and wlecome to the site.
Congrats on the new Z ! Black is a tough color to keep clean. I have an Blk '04 touring AT and do long commutes to work and back also. I opted for the AT because I didn't want to "clutch it" in traffic, getting old too !
Besides I don't race or drift, etc....I just wanted a great looking sports car that handles awesome and has some power. Not too sure about your NAV sys and the clock in it. I don't have a NAV so I have just one clock. I would think that the NAV would be able to see where you are from the GPS and automatically set the time from the zone you are in ???
As for the storage, yeah, I think they could have put a small glove box in the passenger side. That would be nice. As for your XM....I know people that have it and love it. They will never have anything else in a car. Take good care of her and post a pic.

A big welcome. We need an influx of maturity here to combat some of the newly lost generation. To attach photos from a URL or your hard drive, click on the "Post a reply", go to the bottom where it says manage attachments, and then you'll be able to figure it out. There is a size limitation, so you may have to resize or condense your photos first. Congrats on the car!
Thanks for the welcome and the tips on posting photos. I'll take a couple just to see if it works. I never did understand why people enjoy posting photos on these various boards, unless it included a really hot babe or it was truly unique. There must be a few hundred black 350Z coupes on the street.
OK, I have found a few annoyances to the car (other than the fact I'm going to have to dust off my V1). First, the radio and Nav system aren't linked together like in most cars. So my XM radio has precisely one line of text, which reminds me of XM radios from back in 2001!!! Second, Nissan must be run by a bunch of wimpy lawyers, because what's this crap about not allowing me to program it while driving!!! Third, couldn't they have integrated the key and keyless remote together? How much work does that take?
These are nits. The car is sexy. Now I have to think about removing the front plate bracket because silly dealer decided to put it on.
By the way, why does everyone blur out their license plate in pictures? It's not like it's very useful. Besides I have a cool vanity plate. Go Orange!!!
