I hear some say, 04 and 05 some day 07. Im looking to get a Base, and install a lsd and maybe 3.9 or 4.08 gears in it, mostly for drag racing. Also any opinions on the gears woujld help, Thanks.

I don't think there were any changes between the '03 and '04. The '04.5 Incorporated mostly mechanical changes. The '06 had the most viewable changes inside and out(apart from the '07 hood hump). The '07 engine was definitely the biggest change from previous Z engines. Here is a link that summarizes it all. Just click on the progressive years and read the overviews.

I would buy the LOWEST mileage Z you can get, with the NEWEST model year and preferably with a warranty still in effect.

every year had different, varying levels, of problems. some guys never have problems, others have every problem.

I like 03-04.5 because of the engine and weight

I like 05-07 because of the upgraded interior and standard options they added.

I like 07 because of the ENGINE!!!!

but I dislike 05-07 because of the softer suspension and increased weight.

^ but both of those can be remedied with the aftermarket

 

07 Base would be your best car to get. The best built and the fastest of all the years.

^Despite what the chart says, I casual search on autotrader will quickly yield a base model.

 

I want to say Thank you to all your guys, i think im gonna go with a 07/08 Base and add a set of 4.08s with a Quafi lsd, and call it a day..
