Default Outside Noise Issue

Hey guys,
I just bought a 08 350z Enthusiast. So far Im loving the car! I just had a couple questions about the car.

When i drive the car, It has alot of outside noise in the back. Anywhere from wind to rocks chipping. Is this normal?

and for switching gears...what amount of RPM should i keep it at for cruising? around 2-3kish? I know for my brothers 335i, the owners usually keep it at 1800-2100RPM.

Weird. Are you loving it or mad that it's a BASE and not Enthusiast?

In either event, the car has enough power to cruise at low RPM. Under my normal driving circumstances, the car is in the highest (i.e. 6th) gear possible. Call it 1500RPM or so.

As for the noise, check your tire pressure or better describe what you are hearing.

I'm not quite sure I know what you mean, but I'll take a stab at it.

When I drive (slowly) down my gravel driveway, I can hear rocks hitting the inner fenderwells. It's more noticeable on this car than on any other I've owned. I suspect there's just much less insulation between me and the "outside world" than I'm used to.

Is this what you mean?

Welcome, man. I'd guess your previous cars have been coupes or sedans. I definitely notice more small noises from the back in a hatchback. Just part of the game. And, I know this sounds silly, but be sure your hatch is fully closed. Verify there's no cargo in the way, and give it a good shove.

Welcome. There is nothing between you and the rear fender wells.

Drive at whatever RPM you feel comfortable. A couple of thousand miles and you will get the hang of it.

Right now, im having some major issues with the dealer..I still love the car, and yea the wind noise does seem normal, cause i drove me friends Z and it was very similiar.
