Default to nav or not to nav

I've got it narrowed down to an 08 smb grand touring 6mt, but I can't find one without nav ($1600). I don't really want it but I wonder if it's a good idea to get it because of the resale issue. Feel free to weigh in

If you want a GT you're probably not *going* to find one in dealer stock without NAV.

To my knowledge, it's standard with a Grand Touring. So you "can't" find one without Nav. If you don't want Nav you're either going to have to remove it (and still pay for it), or get a Touring then upgrade with the other options you want and are missing (like Brembo brakes and Rays).

That was my point, lol... sorry if my dry-ish, a bit sardonic sense of humor didn't translate well over the iNtarwEBnet. One of the great shortcomings of this communications medium. Ehh, what can ya do? *shrugs*

You should buy the Grand Touring with the navigation system, and then take out the navigation system and give it to me

I ran into the same thing, I bought a touring roadster and it already had the nav in it...

I'd be lost without it...

My Touring didn't have it, unfortunately. I wish it did. I haven't seen any kits around so that you can put a Navigation in that center console either.

My 07 Enth came with the base stereo setup - CD player, AM/FM.

I went to Bestbuy and got the Panasonic AVIC-D3 installed which has:
GPS - comes standard
DVD playback
IPOD interface capability with video playback
Backup camera interface capability
Bluetooth capability
XM radio capability
Sirius radio capability
XM Traffic monitoring capability

Capability means that the module needed to operate that feature is sold
separately. I got the backup camera, ipod interface, and bluetooth modules
installed and love them all.

The GPS is pretty cool. You can type in a landline phone number and it'll tell you where it's located and map it. Also, you can type in an address and map it. Voice prompts are clear and accurate.

The lighting for the system is customizable to match the OEM gauges.

GPS:

Ipod interface:

Also, you can upload your own wallpaper pics onto the screen. Here are a few that I made for mine. These are bigger than the display screen, but will fit:

Overall, I've been very pleased with it.

How much if you dont mind me asking and does it fit in place of the stock NAV or does it replace the CD player?

rkemp1 -

It cost $800 at the time, but I just googled it and you can get it for anywhere between $550 and $1000.

It replaces the stock radio/cd player and leaves the storage compartment above it intact (I think that's where the OEM nav would go). I have my ipod sitting in there and wired to the AVIC.
