Thanks! The rear clip is redline, so we decided we would stick with it instead of the gray. Plus, metallic gray is tough to match, so the red is a clear winner!

So what all did it need? A 1/4 panel, a few hours on the frame rack, door and fender? Maybe some inner structure repair? I'm a body guy (just not working in the profession right now) so I kinda know what to look for. The car doesn't really look that bad off.

It really was bad off though. The damage in the lower unibody area went about 4 layers deep, and there was quite a bit of damage in a few of the cross structures and even the trunk. Ever done a clip top (basically replacing the whole rear end)? Thats what were doing. Along with a new fender, door, side skirt, rear bumper, and other misc parts. And since the new rear end is red, we have been painting the gray front end parts red in the meantime. Its a purty color!

Update: The unibody guy is taking a very, very long time. Kinda disappointing.

Sucks about the taking long part but I'm sure the payoff is worth it

Here you go my fellow thread subscribers (and new kids)!

Freshly painted hood

And fenders. So many parts were running out of room in the house!

And the unibody guy actually started on the car. He took the suspension stuff out from under the z to prepare for some pulling. Other than that, were painting some interior parts that we have in gray over to black, since we have a majority of black.

Just read through the whole thread, this looks like a great project. The redline was an excellent choice. Can't wait to see what it will look like together!

I think a painless dent remover guy could pull that back out for you without to much trouble.

Hope everything turns out how you planned, like new the paint.
Subscribed to this, what are you expecting this to run you for the rebuild? Not including cost to buy the car.

haha yea I wish I would have thought about paintless dent repair before I got into this! If you wanted me to ballpark it without including the cost for the car...Id would say were shooting for around 5 grand for the repair.
