Enthisiast:
The significant changes over the Base model include Traction Control, Limited Slip Differential, and Cruise Control.

Touring:
The significant changes over the Base and Enthusiast models is the increase in wheel size (2003-2005), addition of leather seats, Bose Audio System, and optional DVD Navigation System.

(Taken from Tech, so I am not 100% positive it is right)

Most people will say the VQ35HR engine which came on the '07 & '08 models. These produce 307HP which is the most of any 350Z.

Early models such as the '03 and '04 had tire feathering issues. The VQ35DE Rev Up engine (found in the all 6MT '06 model and the 6MT '05 Anniversary Edition models). Had oil consumption issues. Nissan would replace your engine if it was found to have this problem.

If I was your age and in college I would go for an early model '03 or '04. It will not break the bank and will be just as much fun as any other Z. Do not let the BOSE factor into any decision you make. It sucks and you will probably end up replacing it anyway.

On the other hand the sarcasm makes me think i'm talking to a bunch of highschoolers, i was told this was a more sophisticated forum when it came to the 350Z platform but perhaps i was mislead. The VR4 is in no way the "pinnacle" form of fine engineering as there were plenty of errrors in designing it, that being said on a tight college budget and running a 12.3X this last summer, i in no way presume that as being "fast" but am proud of my achievment. I drive sprint cars and am no longer looking at building a "fast" car, but more or less looking for a fine looking sports car that still has some get-up-and-go, plus what girl doesn't like a 350Z

Thanks to those who have pointed me in the correct direction, i will continue to troll the site and if i run into any questions i'll use the search button first Thanks guys/girls

Take it from another 3/S guy, people only act that way to guys who ask questions that have been beaten to death, so don't base the entire forum on that. If you take a look everywhere else, when there is a legitimate question, good discussions come out of it. This is a very good forum though, just have to have thick skin. I was on the 3/s forums a long time ago, everyone either migrated over to a 350z/g35 or corvette, lol. Post pics of your 3000gts. Good luck on these forums!

i have no problems with my 3S other then..well its just old. Its a '91 and runs great, lots of new parts, but at the end of the day its about as old as the kids starting to drive them. Time to upgrade to something else IMO

RSX > Z So you may want to re-think your future purchase.

Sorry i cant do the whole 4 banger thing, i have respect for the platform and all but a little 4 banger is not for me. In my parts it seems like everybody either has an LSx or some kind of Honda, i'd like to stay with a V6. Also, if i owned a 350Z i wouldn't be using it much more outside of a nice car to drive across town with or just cruise. I'd like to garage my VR4 until i either decide to sell it, or slowly work on a TD05 set up.

It's a running joke on these forums, don't take it seriously.

Here is how my 3s looked at its prime, its been down for the count for awhile, tried to do a tt conversion but never finished

bose system sucks in the car. if you have the choice of a say a z that cost more with the bose system and a z that cost less without the bose system then if i were you i would get the one that costs less. that will prob be one of the first upgrades you do on the car

That's probably the dumbest reason to decided which trim he gets! The Base, and Enthusiest model are the only two that don't offer the Bose. But he will also he loosing out on other options as well that are more important such as VDC, VLSD, and TCS (if he goes with the base model). Not to mention resale value being better with a higher trim. What if he wants factory leather seats and heaters?

Adults don't buy a sports car for the radio, so the fact that the Bose isn't all that shouldn't be a deciding factor in any way!!

I hope yal realize the headunit isn't Bose. It's the same as in the other trims. It only says Bose on it because the Subwoofer and the amp for it are made by Bose. Bose was never ment for a car, people need to realize that. So keeping that in mind, it's still better then the non-Bose equipped Z's, simply because you get a factory Sub and a 6 disk changer. You need to look past the name stamped on the from of the head unit! And buy the car because of the car!

Very good point halfass about the bose headunit really being a Nissan headunit with a Bose sup amp as well as a changer. Not every Z owner will absolutely want to modify his audio, so in the strictest sense, a Z with a Bose system is better than one without.

That said, to the OP, if you do intend on getting an aftermarket audio system, understand that in a Z with the Bose audio, there is MUCH more modifying to be done in order to remove that system. Talking wiring up the ***, speaker modification. Definitely a pia.

was it really necessary to bump this old topic just to say that?

you haven't been on this forum long enough to understand the underlying sarcasm in this thread
