Default new owner lots of questions(long post)

first off sorry for the long first post but ive never played with a jap car.

i traded my bmw 328i sport for a 350z and love it. the handling and braking will be on par with the bmw after some mods but the power increase is amazing.

heres a pic of how i picked up the car

first mod was to get the ugly 20'' chrome wheels off of there so i made the dealership swap them with another 350 they had. volk ce28 18'' much more my style (for now)

ok so next on the mod list is well everything this is where i need the help sound system is taken care of and window tint is coming but what brands are best for the z and which are well a waste of time and money.

im thinking and please if you know of something better say something

1.intake= AEM cai system
2.exhaust= magnaflow cat back
3. headers ?
4. y pipe ?
5. test pipe ?
6. short throw shifter= stillen
7.coil overs ?
8. seats= either bride or sparco milano 2's
9.clutch= jwt
10.flywheel= jwt
11.hood= seibon vt carbon
12. big brake kit= akebono 14"
13. lip kit= c-west half spoiler

i am on a budget but if i want it bad enough i dont care about cost. wheels are something i will do in but for now im happy with the ce28's

thanks guys for the great forum so far

thadd.

ps anyone from missouri?

i would slowly mod your car because your taste can change over time. i would do high flow cats unless you can pass emissions, i would get test pipes. also dont get headers to much waste of time for now unless you decided to stay NA. Also, the breaks you listed are good but think on it. Dont get a short thorw, no one likes them and so on(well some do). on the coilovers i would go with bc or stance for good bang for buck(also think about what you plan to do with the car. Another thing if you looking for big gains from bolt ons forget about it lol, your better off saving up for FI. The hood i would wait on and same for the lip kit. Motordyne xyz pipe(lil expensive but worth it) also test pipe is just a pipe lol but some brands use better metals then others. On the cold air intake get the long tube but the ram air looking one doesnt give you HP and some time looses it.

Last but not least search before you make a post because flaming and grammar flaming are done lol (yes my grammar wasnt good on this but im to tired to feel like making sure everything is ok) Well hope this helps and welcome to the forum.

Some good advice above, I would second everything he said.
Look into a 2006 factory air box with an Amsoil filter, change all the fluids with quality products, and put new plugs in it, change the PCV valve and call it a day untill you figure out where you want to go with it. Get the suspension out of the way first, the car looks like an 04 or earlier based on the headlights so it might be time for bushings and other components depending on the milage.

You're on a budget, but you want to mod everything on the car?

I think you need to take some time and figure out your goals.

Bring it up to Omaha this weekend for Midwest Z Fest. We're having a track day Friday at Mid America Motorplex (MAM).
