New owner in Birmingham AL
Hi folks. My name's John and I just bought my 2nd Z...first one was a 1984 50th anniversary 300ZX. That was many years ago.
I bought a 2005 Coupe. Single owner, well maintained.
My new "mid life crisis" doesn't have a name, won't get much in upgrades, and will be a weekend toy as it's the 4th vehicle in the garage.
Some immediate items of interest I'll be scanning the forum for:
Brakes and wheel bearings...previous guy was NOT a mechanic and do I believe in making sure it'll roll...advise, etc. Advise that spans the ages..."never ride a horse until it'll whoa".
Interior console "alternates". Some scratches and BOSE without satelite (I don't think"). Sounds very good but I'm not an AM/FM guy, don't have many CD's, and will never use the cassette player.
Fresh or cold air mod
Tuning chip
Thanks for browsing my initial post, hope to see some of you in the Birmingham area.

Welcome to the boards and if you need a heads up on any places in the city to get service, let me know. I live three hours south of you, but I frequent Birmingham all the time since I used to live there and I also have several connections in the area.

Welcome!
We are sorta neighbors.I'm near Atlanta.
Several questions:why do you think you need brakes/bearings?
How many miles on your Z?Model?Color?--post some pics
Interior "scratches" are common.Several remedies to fix.Check
searches on the forum. It all depends how particular you are.
Tuning chip?Save your money. They are a waste of time.
Depending on your budget, you can go conservative to WILD!
If you are looking for a shop that specializes in Z's,take a trip
down I-20 to Atlanta(actually closer to you,in Carrolton).
Z-1 Motorsports(a forum vendor),one of the best!

It's the Enthusiast, coupe, with 90K...all service records, single owner...however, I get a slight growl making hard right turns, suspect front left hub replacement, not a big deal.
thanks for the "scratches" heads-up.
In all reality, it runs just fine for me. Probably should just leave it alone (chip set, etc).
Posting a pick in my profile.
thanks again
