Hey guys. Just wanted to say hello. I picked up a 2003 Track Edition with 43k miles a couple of months ago. My initial goal was to go Spec Z in NASA, but it kinda seems to be dying a slow death. It was really popular here in the Rocky Mountain region, but at the last two NASA events, I think I've seen one Spec Z out there. So now I'm not sure where to go. Probably performance touring. Of course this is pretty far down the road considering I just started doing the HPDE events. But I'm really looking forward to some wheel to wheel racing. I can't tell you how much fun the NASA events are. Great people.
Anyways, enough rambling. I'm sure I'll have a ton of questions and I'll read all the stickies. Hopefully I won't ask the same question that's been asked a thousand times.
Welcome- there are a few Colorado Z racers out there. In SCCA racing, it's classed in Touring 3 and I'm headed to Pueblo to race this weekend. Of course, there's NASA Spec Z (or PTB) and you should talk with someone like Dave Dirks about that class. I believe there's at least three cars competing locally.
I've keep hoping to talk to Dirks at a NASA event, but the last one I was at, my wife's engine blew and we had to deal with that. So I never got around to pick his brain. There was a Z that was running in PT at PPIR this past week. He and an older Porsche were having lots of fun chasing each other. So if Spec Z doesn't work, at least there are plenty of hotel options.
dkmura, I may have to get your contact info since you're so close. I have about a million questions about racing the Z. I can trade beer to pick your brain.
I really wish I could get back out on a road course... I went to Big Willow in California a couple times and haven't gone anywhere but the 1/4 strip here in iowa.
Anywho, sounds like you have a pretty good handle on an already great handling car. Welcome to the board.

The Z racer in the white NISMO model was Bob Schader, who's also racing T3 in SCCA racing. As for that talk, I'd be happier with a root beer and some snacks, so PM me and we'll set something up.

I'll take you up on that in June sometime. I'd definitely like to pick your brain. I'd really appreciate it. It would be nice to have someone I can talk to that actually races. It's such a different beast than the street.
I talked to Bob at PPIR this past weekend. He offered to sell me his NISMO suspension and sways off his car, but I'm just not sure if that's the route I want to go. It seems like there are better and cheaper products out there.
