New 350z Owner
Today I finally accomplished my goal of purchasing my first 350z. Its a 2004 that i picked up for $3300 and I was told it would need some work. I'm only 16 and hoping to learn a lot from this car.
When I got it to my house I ran the codes and got a P0011- "A" Camshaft Position - Timing Over-Advanced or System Performance (Bank 1)
I did some research and it seemed like its the VVT solenoid or the cam phaser. Since the solenoid is much easier to get to I took that off first and it seemed to be working fine but some youtube videos showed the solenoid opening further than mine looks to be. There is also a slight knock coming from the top of the engine.
I took a video of what it is currently doing.

Can anybody tell me if this looks right or help me find another solution to this?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help. Im really looking forward to joining the Z community.

Welcome- but you're in deep do-do on this one. This isn't a common problem on a VQ35DE and not one you're likely to get much feedback on. A easy solution isn't likely and my bet is you'll need to get a Nissan specialist to figure out.
Live and learn- a car that needs "a little work" can mean a deep, dark hole. I'll bet this Z needs a LOT more work before it's back to health.

Welcome to the forum. I'd really like to congratulate you on your purchase but I have to agree with dkmura in saying that "needs a little work" is a bit of an understatement. Keep us updated as to how you get on with it.

Welcome though. Hopefully you don't burn too much cash getting it fixed (you likely will).
