Never thought of that? I would think that as long as the bottle is closed it should be fine. But thinking logically, people at the shop that I refill my bottle at have it in a tank. I'm sure they don't have to empty out their tank routinely if no one buys nitrous. Should be the same for us. But what do I know.

actually nitrous does go "stale". usually 2 to 3 months and then the n2o starts to break down because of pressure and other chemicals in the bottle bla bla bla. usually nitrous tanks in a shop dont last any near that length of time, so they dont have to worry about it.

point is yes, you have n2o in a bottle u got 2-3 months to use it. after that it slowly turns into poopy (not literally)

peace.

You sure about that one? Why would it break down? Also what would it break down too? The only way it could go bad is to leak. It is a gas under pressure basically nitrogen and oxygen atoms. I think it is fine but then again I am not a rocket scientist...Or am I?

The only reason I ask is because a NO2 bottle has more than just pure NO2 in it. It has additives.

thats exactly why. if it was pure pressurised nitrous you wouldnt have a problem, but all the other chemicals like the sulfur etc start messing with it. there was actually a thread about it on this website some time ago, and someone said its ok for 4-6 months. i looked into it and asked around. i've heard anywhere from a shelf life of 2months to a shelf life of 6. the place i got my nitrous kit from said after 2-3 months it starts to break down. i should say though, that doesnt mean that the nitrous goes all bad at once, but it becomes less "potent" and so on.

having said all this, y would anyone have to worry about the expiration date of the nitrous fills? i never had a fill last me over a week. most cases i'd fill up and go empty in the same day (track days). is anyone storing it over winter? that might be it actually. just thought of it.

That is exactly it. I am sitting with a 90% full nitrous bottle in the untouched Z. I have not driven my car in almost 2 months. Put it this way the last time I drove the Z we could see the grass. That is an interesting point they add sulfur dioxide a small amount for taste and smell. Maybe it does. Who knows.
