like you said though. there are those 2-3 days in the winter where the snow is high and fresh and the car wont go anywhere no matter what tires you have on it. those are the days i "borrow" my dads car. he's ok with it as long as he gets a few days of his choice to drive the z. lol.

Any car drives fine responsibly in the snow with the right tires, period. Driven on fresh snow with snow tires on the Z, my wife's Grand Cherokee (brand new 4 wheel drive) couldn't keep up.

Now, just as MySunset says......"height" of snow can be an issue. There are a few days a year around here that you'll need a ride or just work from home.

Tires. It's all about the tires. Winter tires - outstanding. Stock Z tires - death trap.

I'd say go with 17's. I'm no expert but this is what i've gathered in my opinions, thoughts and theories.

With 18's, there is going to be less side wall which means less room to flex and adhere to the road conditions. With the suspension on the Z already being pretty tight, you're going to really rely on the tires to compromise with the roads and conditions in order to gain traction. With 17's, there will be a higher side wall which means there will be more flex. The whole reason you switch to winter tires in the first place is because the tire itself is softer than a regular summer tire or all season. It's softer to get better traction in the wet stuff. But I think you'd have better luck with a 17" tire, plus its cheaper!!

Just my theory, not proven I don't think. Whatever you get, i'd say get the same size all the way around so 1) you can rotate over the years and 2) the skinnier the better in snow. Hence what the WRC drivers use. 225 series or even 235's all the way around.

With my Blizzak WS50's, i've used them for 3 winter rotations now, still has TONS of tread left on the tire. I should sell these.....Anyone need a set of Blizzak WS50's on 15" steelies? 215/60/15? I know it won't fit on the Z but something else possibly?

Nearing the end of the season.. I want to get as much driving time in as possibel before the snow comes - and now the city decides to perform their sidewalk replacemnt work on my block. I've been minus a sidewalk (that crosses the driveway) for over a week.. they finally poured the concrete today.. I'm dieing here. My Z has been trapped in the garage and she wants to fly around before the weather goes to hell. I probably have another week before the concrete hardens and I can use the driveway again.

(1st year with a Z.. not sure how I'm going to handle the seasonal downtime....yes, I do have a winter beater that I've been using during the sidewalk work and parking on the street)

I may run an extension cord out the house with a hairdryer to get that concrete to harden up j/k

Anyone on here that was on Woodward south of 13 mile about 2 weeks ago? saw 2 Z's following eachother and I joined in for a short Z convoy. Good fun!

Anybody storing their Z for the winter? If so, do you remove your insurance or is there a special insurance for this type of storage?

Call your insurance agent and tell him you are storing it in your garage and want the minimum insurance for theft, fire, etc. He will remove collision and any other coverage that you need while on the road. From memory, I think it saves me $250 for the 3 months of Mid Dec to Mid March.

Yeah.. I'll be keeping the Z away from the salt/snow . Not going to change my insurance though because I think it'll be cheaper to pay full coverage than have the insurance company find out about my 'ticket'.

I think I may and try and sell the Z. Its about time to get out of the payment for a few months. I would only want Blue Book even though I put almost 10K into it over the last few years. I only have 40K miles. If anyone you know is looking, send them my way. I am going to put it on Autotrader.com for $24,500 and blue book is around $20,200.

Not going to sell my Z, I am just tired of $511/mnth. I only have 18 months to go.

By the way I am considering a 260Z. I have located one in very rough shape for $300.

Glad to here you are not selling, have you seen the pics of the 07? They are not offering silverstone as a color choice.

looks like there will be one more meet before the end of the season. this was taken directly from dazca.org you can check out the ride of the month while you're at it. its nice. lol. there's atleast 10-15 other z's that show at every meet, so it should be fun. still not sure what time it will be, ill post when i find out. probably around 12pm.

The October Autumn Color Cruise is a "weather permitting" event set for Saturday, October 14. We will meet once again at noon, Nankin Mills area on Hines Drive and Ann Arbor Trail. From here we will travel west on Ann Arbor Trail through Plymouth to Sheldon Rd., north to N. Territorial Rd., then west. This a route that Bob O'Neill mentioned to me, and verified by Jeff, as a nice drive with decent turns. Again, this is a weather-permitting cruise, and is the final event of the 2006 summer.

I just put my motor in today
If she starts by then I will be there. Took me 2 hours to get the dam thing lined up because the chain holding the tranny was hitting the firewall. Otherwise it would have taken 20 mintues. Tonight I got to put the exhaust, and entire front end back on. Then its just get the fuel up the rails and crank her over. It will be my first turn of the key since last september !!!
