... 3 brands?
Why do people look at tires like everything a manufacturer makes is good, or what you should get?

A General Articmax is an awesome snow tire. A General G-MAX AS-03 is a turd of an all season tire made to look like a performance tire.

A BF Goodrich Radial T/A is a shitty tire, but a BF Goodrich g-Force Rival is a pretty damn good performance tire.

I'll let you in on a secret: If someone tells you "[BRAND] are good tires", that person doesn't know **** about tires.

Signed,
The guy who goes through one, if not two, sets of Extreme performance street tires every summer.

Brands as in...

1. Continental ExtremeContact DWS UTQG: 540
2. Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport UTQG: 340
3. Nitto NT05 UTQG: forget off hand 200ish

maybe I shouldn't have said brands but 3 kinds of tires. Correct me if I am wrong but I see UTQG as basic how long the tread will last 100=7,200 miles, 200=14,400,etc. from what i read. So anyone of those above would last a summer with almost any type of driving.

Ok, that's an All-Season tire, with a snow bias. DWS= Dry, Wet, Snow
They're highly prone to chunking when pushed hard.

The 760 is actually a sport tire, but it's not the highest performer in the category. Top flight from Bridgestone would be the RE-11

Nitto is a full on summer tire, in the "extreme performance" category, but they tend to be overpriced, and have never actually ranked well when compared to similar offerings from Bridgestone, Toyo, Dunlop, and now BF Goodrich

UTQG is basically an arbitrary number. They put a tire on a trailer, and drag it around to "estimate" how long it will last in "average driving conditions". Rarely does it equate to actual mileage of the tire.

You're also not talking about mounting them to an "average" car. You'll find harder compound tires (usually indicated by higher UTQG numbers) will be prone to destroying themselves in other ways instead of wearing out (feathering, cupping, chunking, etc.) when attached to cars that are driven hard.

I get a summer out of a set of Dunlop Z1 Star specs and that's on a car i pummel on the autox course. The contis on my wagon show next to no wear on them and went through last summer fine, and i drive the **** out of everything i own.

I'm confident if you're not doing burnouts you'll get at least a minnesota summer out of just about any Extreme performance category tire. Others, you'll probably find shedding their tread before you're ready to change.

I saw a street sweeper up at Camp Ripley today.

Pew! Pew! More war games.

I'm so effin tired. In 2 days, I've driven 15 hours including 4 or more in a MRAP. Now that has some bad *** tires.

The nitto NT05 are a pretty good street tire on dry days and wet when there is plenty of tread left. These do wear down fast depending on the driver (I have had to replace the rears every year and been using them for 3 years now have yet to replace the front and still look decent) these tires I've noticed seem really popular with the awd crowd (evo and wrx) I've noticed on track days. Not sure about them being overpriced as Shane stated but everyone has an opinion.

I think I'd be to overwhelmed with joy and daydreaming about the fact that winter is now over to really care too much about getting stuck behind a slow moving street sweeper. About the only time I care if they wanna go slower and take their time and Im cool with it, slow and steady and do a good job lol.

Thank you gents, the z was pulled out when I got back from Tampa biz trip that was fruitful. I am off to SD and then NY tomorrow, next week I will actually be around for a few. Running a seminar in Scottsdale for their extreme 300+ mbr car club. Some of you have expressed interest so I think we should meet up and wrap up some control and asset protection for you folks, including but not limited to the vehicles, as for me I no longer "own" my Z or TA personally, so if this is the path you'd like to choose as well to mitigate any loss vs risk, we can make that happen. This will all be discussed in person as its not anything to be discussed over text or electronic record. Needless to say, I wrapped up two properties in FL and a hell of a vehicle collection while in Tampa----will explain in person. $ .

put about 40 miles on my car this week. Still crazy dusty/dirty. Hope I can find time to wash it. been trying to dial in that RJM clutch assembly I bought over the winter. not sure if it was worth the money or time. at this point it seems to have given me a little lighter pedal. my clutch is/was slightly heavier than stock, so I guess it's a good thing, but compared to my evo, it's still pretty light.

been farming regularly here for a week or so now.... so gym time is getting harder to come by. took the bathroom selfie last week to show my "pre-farm season" arms. I put almost an inch on my arms since november all the while dropping about 10 lbs of bodyweight.

none of you boys get too worked up now:

Yeah, I definitely don't share that mentality when I've got somewhere to be

Good Job Aaron Nice gains, you look like the person I met the first time at Steves going away party vs when you came out to Dave's BBQ last year or 2 years ago when I said I thought you looked bigger the first time I met ya. Yep hitting the weights is starting to get harder and harder for me with work starting to get busier but I'm still hitting the weights 3x a week right now vs 5x before. Come June/July/August I'll be lucky to get in 2x.

this technically is the 'smallest' ive been since college (cough 2000); I am 198... I was 215 when I got married in 2003 and have seen 260+ twice in the last 5 yrs.

I never get out enough to the meets. I would be surprised if my last trip to daves was only 2 yrs ago..... work is a *****.. and with my kid; oh man....

I just got in at 7:15 tonight. momma and kid are at a school carnival that I am missing. and this isn't even busy time
